According to Times Of Israel , many Palestinians poured into the streets on October 9 to celebrate after Israel and Hamas agreed on the first phase of US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza to end the two-year war in this strip of land.
In the Gaza Strip, young people cheered and clapped in the streets, which had been devastated by the conflict. Many chanted "God is great" and expressed hope that the deal would end the fighting and allow previously displaced people to return home.
Anas Arafat, a Gaza City resident who fled south last week, told The Times of Israel : "We are very happy that the war is over. We hope to return home soon. Even though our homes have been destroyed, the most important thing is that we are back," Arafat said.

"The ceasefire is the result of the great sacrifices and incredible patience of our people, as well as the strength and steadfastness of the resistance," said senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq.
Gaza City Mayor Yahya Sarraj told The Times of Israel : "There is hope for a new future and a peaceful life in Gaza."
