" Currently, we have 18 VAR referees, but it is not enough to apply it to all 7 matches. After the first course ended, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) calculated to train more staff. We chose 13 referees for the second course and 10 technical staff to add more staff, " said Mr. Dang Thanh Ha, Head of the VFF Referee Board, in response to VTC News.
On the morning of November 13, the second phase of the VAR referee training course was opened at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). This course is taught by four Vietnamese lecturers, including Mr. Dang Thanh Ha - Head of the Referee Board; Vo Quang Vinh - Deputy Head of the Referee Board, Mr. Vo Minh Tri, Mr. Pham Manh Long. FIFA lecturer Mr. Tamer Dorry Abd Ei Salam will be present to directly train Vietnamese referees from November 14.
Mr. Vo Minh Tri (right) continues to be a lecturer at the second VAR referee training course.
In this course, referees and assistant referees will continue to familiarize themselves with the VAR process and technology in the technical room. During the entire time in class, students will have the first steps to familiarize themselves with the VAR system and complete steps 2a and 2b in the 3-step FIFA standard curriculum.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Chairman of VPF Company said: " Applying VAR is not simple at all. The first training class has 18 referees who meet FIFA standards but that is not enough. VPF wants to apply VAR in a maximum of 4 matches in each round. With such a force, it is impossible to meet the requirements.
The second training course is much more rigorous. The study time is long and tiring, requiring everyone to concentrate. Otherwise, people can skip some part of the course. VFF really needs referees to strengthen the tournament. Deploying equipment is not easy, even for technicians and cameramen, they need to know about football expertise and rules .
The second VAR Referee Training Course was organized with the aim of fully preparing the quantity and quality of personnel to achieve the goal of applying VAR to all matches in the National Championship after receiving 02 more VAR vehicles sponsored by FIFA in Vietnam. In the future, VFF and VPF Company will continue to organize many VAR Referee Training Courses to maximize the effectiveness of VAR, improving the quality of tournaments.
