Strong cold air is about to come, will the humidity in the North end?

In recent days, the weather in the Northeast and Hanoi has been foggy, with heavy drizzle and overcast skies all day. This has kept the humidity high, leading to a damp climate.

Meteorological experts say the North will continue to experience light rain, drizzle, scattered fog, and high humidity in the next few days.

Regarding the cold weather with humid rain, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said: "The humid weather that is happening in Hanoi and many places in the North will last until the end of this week.

Humidity is a weather phenomenon that often occurs in the spring in the North. Each humid period usually lasts from a few days to a week.

The humid weather will last from mid-February to early April. This phenomenon will only end or change when strong cold air flows in or there is sunshine.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on February 20 and 21, the weather in the North will continue to have light rain, drizzle and fog due to the influence of weak cold air from the east combined with strong currents in the upper westerly wind zone.

Light rain and fog in the Northeast are concentrated at night and in the morning. By noon, the rain decreases, the sky is cloudy and gloomy. In the Northwest, the afternoon is sunny. Along with that, the humidity in the air is always high, from 80-90%, causing a feeling of dampness.

It is forecasted that in the next two days, the lowest temperature in Hanoi and the northern provinces at night and in the morning will be 14-17 degrees Celsius, in some mountainous areas it will be below 13 degrees Celsius, cold, in some mountainous areas it will be very cold due to a strong cold air mass.

During the day, the temperature in Hanoi and the Northeastern provinces is 17-19 degrees Celsius, in the Northwestern region 19-22 degrees Celsius, in Dien Bien and Son La 22-25 degrees Celsius, some places over 26 degrees Celsius. Light rain, drizzle and fog will also remain in the next two days in the North Central region.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the current wet spell in Hanoi and the northeastern provinces is likely to last until the end of this week.

It is forecasted that around the night of February 22, a fairly strong cold air mass will flow down to our country, and the dampness phenomenon is likely to decrease.

Due to the influence of cold air, in the North and North Central regions from February 22 to 24, there will be scattered rain and light rain. On February 25 and 26, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms. From around the night of February 23 to 26, the mountainous and midland regions of the North will be very cold, with some places experiencing severe cold. The Northern Delta and North Central regions will be cold.

In Hanoi, from around February 22 to 25, the sky will be cloudy with light rain, showers and thunderstorms. Low temperatures are likely to remain at 13-15 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological agency said cloudy weather and light rain in Hanoi and the northeastern provinces are likely to last until around February 26.

Meteorological experts predict that in the coming days, the North will continue to have light rain, drizzle, scattered fog, and prolonged high humidity. This situation not only causes many inconveniences in daily life but also poses a potential risk to human health.

High humidity levels are an ideal environment for bacteria and mold to grow, increasing the risk of respiratory diseases such as allergic rhinitis, sinusitis and asthma. In addition, the skin is also susceptible to irritation, inflammation or skin diseases due to prolonged exposure to humid environments.

To reduce the impact of high humidity, people can use measures such as dehumidifiers, ventilation fans or natural moisture-absorbing materials such as activated carbon and quicklime.

At the same time, regular personal hygiene, drying the body, choosing breathable, sweat-absorbent clothing also helps prevent diseases related to humidity. Supplementing foods rich in vitamins and minerals is also a way to increase resistance, reducing the risk of disease in this weather.
