Block D6 is a shopping complex in D6 Trung Tu apartment complex, lane 4B Dang Van Ngu street, Dong Da district, Hanoi . Starting from a clothing store, after 5 years, this place now has more than 10 stores with diverse business types.
The front of the complex is a row of fashion shops, accessories and nail salons. The back has cafes, plant shops, Korean photography studios... stretching along a small alley about 100m long. Each shop here has its own unique features but all have a rather vintage and gentle color tone, reminding many people of the lovely alleys in Korea and Japan.
The area in front of the coffee shops is crowded with young people taking pictures. Small rows of chairs, potted plants or large mirrors outside are also arranged to create "virtual living" corners. Thanks to good natural light, people do not need to work hard to edit to get a satisfactory photo. The shops at Block D6 are open from around 9am to 9pm every day. The peak hours are after 4pm, when the sun is less harsh, and more young people flock to this place. On weekends, Gen Z (those born between 1997 and 2012) love to come here to take pictures. On some holidays such as Mid-Autumn Festival and Christmas, the number of visitors also increases dramatically. Not only attractive to young Vietnamese people, the complex also attracts tourists from many countries such as Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, etc. to visit and experience the service. They know about this check-in point through hashtags (tags) attached on the social network Instagram. Every two weeks, Yen Nhi (19 years old) - a student at the Banking Academy - invites her friends to Block D6 to play. What she likes most here is that there are a lot of green trees, the cafes are designed eye-catching, and have a rather chill (relaxing) style. "We often combine going out to eat, then buy clothes, coffee, take pictures... Just park your car at the beginning of the alley and walk around here to have all the experiences, no need to go far", the female student said. According to Yen Nhi, to create sparkling "virtual life" photos, everyone can wear healthy white - black, red - black clothes or cute, "girly" outfits, all are suitable. Chau Linh (19 years old) - a student at the Vietnam Women's Academy - commented that compared to some other entertainment complexes in Hanoi, Block D6 has the advantage of being green and quiet, with little traffic. Therefore, this place is not only suitable for "virtual living" but also ideal for young people to come to "heal" and relieve stress. According to the girl born in 2005, the prices of the cafes here are suitable for students, drinks range from 30,000 to 60,000 VND. Although it is a bit crowded to take pictures in the afternoon, the female student shared that as long as everyone knows how to choose the angle and give way to each other a little, they will have beautiful pictures. Taking advantage of the weekend off, Phuong Quynh (23 years old, working in recruitment) and 3 close friends went to the complex to meet and take pictures. Knowing about this check-in spot through Instagram, she found that from the outside, this place was as beautiful and pretty as what people reviewed on social networks. Like many young people, Phuong Quynh likes the green color of the trees and plans to come back here many times. The person who laid the foundation for the birth of Block D6 is An Vu (born in 1989). Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, she said that she started to have the idea of creating a shopping and entertainment complex for young people 5 years ago. At that time, after many trips to Korea and Japan, An Vu was impressed by the image of small alleys with many fashion stores, cafes... attracting a large number of young people to hang out. She wanted to bring this model to Vietnam because having such an area is very convenient for everyone to wander around, shop, walk and stop at any corner to check-in. In 2018, when An Vu rented the first fashion shop here, the area was just a concrete road without a single tree, looking unfriendly. Gradually, she planted more trees to make the space greener and more pleasant. Instead of developing Block D6 according to the old collective concept (theme), An Vu chose a Korean style to make it look more unique. She also invited friends with the same taste to create a complex with a variety of services. Since 2019, this place has been discovered by young people and has attracted more and more people. "What makes me quite happy is that the complex is also visited by many young foreigners. In the near future, I hope to have more new types of businesses or workshops (interactive training), and handicraft classes," An Vu said.
Kieu My (born 2006) - a coffee shop employee in the complex - said that her shop is usually crowded in the evening, from 4pm onwards, especially on weekends. Customers are mainly young people "dressed up" in sparkling clothes, some even bring cameras and reflectors to take pictures. They often order drinks (ranging from 30,000-60,000 VND) and then freely leave their things to pose outside. In Hanoi, many shopping and entertainment complexes were very hot (attracted attention) when they first appeared such as Hanoi Creative City (Luong Yen, Hai Ba Trung District), Zone 9 (Tran Thanh Tong, Hai Ba Trung District), X98 (Hoang Cau, Dong Da District)... However, after a while, these entertainment venues gradually declined, closed or changed their form of operation, causing many people to regret. Although it has existed for 5 years, Block D6 still maintains its appeal, being a weekend hangout chosen by young people.
