Afternoon of September 23, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Robert Maersk Uggla - Chairman of APMoller Holding Group (APM Holding) and Chairman of Maersk - a member of APM Holding.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the positive development of the Comprehensive Partnership. Vietnam - Denmark (established in 2013), including trade and investment. The Prime Minister welcomed and encouraged the Group's investment expansion plan in Vietnam in developing a green, smart seaport system, logistics services, green maritime transport, etc.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the potential in terms of capital, technology and advanced management level as well as the investment activities of APMoller and Maersk in Vietnam (since the 1990s), contributing to the development of the maritime industry and the Vietnamese economy.
The Prime Minister said that Vietnam has more than 3,200km of coastline and is among the 20 economies with the largest international trade scale; Vietnam is promoting the development of transport infrastructure, including maritime transport infrastructure and shipping fleet to reduce high logistics costs and increase the competitiveness of goods and the economy.
The Prime Minister welcomed and encouraged the Group's investment expansion plan in Vietnam in developing a green, smart seaport system, logistics services, green maritime transport, etc.

On the basis of harmonious benefits and shared risks, the Prime Minister suggested that the group study and participate in a number of specific projects that Vietnam is calling for investment in, such as Lien Chieu port (Da Nang), Can Gio international transit port (Ho Chi Minh City), and a number of seaports in the North, Central, and Southwest regions.
The Prime Minister also asked the group to invest in other areas such as digital transformation, green transformation, and circular economy; at the same time, share experiences in port management and operation, contribute policies, and support Vietnam in accessing international financial resources to develop transport infrastructure such as seaports, airports, high-speed railways, urban railways, etc.
For his part, Mr. Robert Maersk Uggla sent his most sincere condolences to the Government and people of Vietnam for the great losses caused by the storm number 3 (Yagi) caused; thanked the Prime Minister for his concern for the business community and expressed his impression of Vietnam's economic development achievements while the global economy faced many difficulties and challenges.

He also appreciated the achievements of the Vietnamese Government in improving the business environment, facilitating foreign investors as well as efforts in digital transformation and green transformation towards sustainable development goals as well as the goals committed at the COP26 Conference of Vietnam.
He said the group sees great potential and opportunities in Vietnam and wishes to contribute more to the development of Vietnam; expressed his desire to explore investment opportunities to build large, modern deep-water container ports as well as strategic logistics projects in Vietnam.
