Inspection of anti-IUU fishing work in 5 southern localities of Khanh Hoa

On October 15, the working delegation of the Provincial Steering Committee against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUU) led by Mr. Nguyen Trong Chanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Deputy Head of the Provincial IUU Steering Committee inspected and guided the work against IUU fishing in the communes and wards of Ninh Chu, Dong Hai, Ninh Hai, Vinh Hai, and Phuoc Dinh.

Currently, the work of combating IUU fishing in the communes and wards of Ninh Chu, Dong Hai, Ninh Hai, Vinh Hai, Phuoc Dinh is facing some difficulties, there are still many fishing boats that do not meet the operating conditions, of which Ninh Chu ward has 63 boats, Dong Hai ward has 89 boats, Ninh Hai commune has 38 boats, Vinh Hai commune has 34 boats, Phuoc Dinh commune has 23 boats. Besides, in these localities, there is still a situation where fishing boats have not docked and loaded fish at fishing ports according to regulations...

Through the inspection, the working group noted that localities must identify the task of combating IUU fishing as a key, continuous, and regular task for sustainable development of the fisheries sector. Localities need to perform well the key tasks of managing the fishing fleet in the area. For fishing vessels that do not meet the operating conditions, they must strictly manage and grasp the images, locations, and anchoring coordinates of these fishing vessels. To effectively control seafood output through ports, localities need to effectively propagate and mobilize fishing vessel owners to carry out procedures for leaving and docking at fishing ports in accordance with regulations; not to dock or load fish at the banks. Localities need to proactively deploy and coordinate well with competent authorities in implementing tasks of combating IUU fishing...
