Xuan Cam: Focus on environmental sanitation and disease prevention after floods

According to statistics as of October 13, Xuan Cam commune had more than 1,300 households affected by flooding, concentrated in the villages of Cam Xuyen, Cam Hoang, Mai Trung, Mai Thuong, Vong Giang, Thang Loi, Giap Ngu and Mai Ha. Of which, nearly 1,100 households were isolated, 280 households had to be evacuated to safety. Many traffic, irrigation, cultural, educational works... were flooded, and equipment was damaged.

The Commune People's Committee determined that immediately after the water recedes, environmental sanitation and disinfection is the top priority to prevent epidemics and help people stabilize their lives and production soon.

Xuan Cam commune militia supports people in cleaning the environment in areas after the flood recedes.

Immediately after the flood receded, the commune mobilized police, military, militia, socio -political organizations, and school students to clean the environment, collect garbage, clear sewers, and ensure a clean and safe environment.

On the morning of October 16, the commune's disinfection spraying team coordinated with the militia, youth union members and medical staff to spray pesticides at crowded places such as: schools, cultural houses, communal houses, pagodas, markets, roads, and residential areas along the Cau River. During the morning, more than 400,000 square meters in the area were sprayed with Cloramin B.

Xuan Cam commune organized spraying of disinfectant chemicals on a commune-wide scale.

Spraying activities will continue in areas where there is still waste, mud, stagnant water and high-risk areas for disease outbreaks.

The commune continues to promote good personal hygiene among people, eating cooked food and drinking boiled water, keeping houses tidy, preventing pathogens from arising in the environment; and closely coordinates with the authorities in periodic disinfection spraying.

At the same time, the locality continues to coordinate with competent authorities to conduct inspections, assessments, and fix incidents in the dike system... to be ready to respond to natural disasters, ensuring flood prevention and control work in the short and long term.

Review, repair and quickly restore essential infrastructure systems (schools, cultural houses, roads, electricity systems, communications, etc.) affected to serve the direction and ensure stable lives of the people. Statistics on the level of damage of each household and locality as a basis for proposing to the Provincial People's Committee to consider implementing policies to support damage caused by storms.

These practical activities demonstrate the proactive, determined and united spirit of the Party Committee, government and people of Xuan Cam commune in the effort to recover from natural disasters and protect public health.
