The results of the first inspection show that many production facilities in the craft village have changed their production mindset, complying with legal regulations in production and business towards sustainable production.
Bui village, My Hao ward currently has nearly 60 households engaged in the production and recycling of scrap. Previously, most of the households in the village did not build wastewater treatment systems but discharged directly into the environment, causing serious pollution. Along with that, tons of waste were not collected and treated every day.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Party cell secretary and head of Bui village, said: Previously, households engaged in the production and recycling of scrap in the village signed contracts with URENCO 11 Company to transport and treat waste, but this could only be maintained for a short time because the company was overloaded and could no longer collect waste. Therefore, the environmental pollution in the village has become increasingly serious. After many inspections and propaganda by the authorities, some households have invested in building wastewater treatment systems and investing in fire prevention and fighting equipment to reduce environmental pollution and ensure production safety.
Phan Boi residential group, Duong Hao ward currently has 137 households engaged in scrap recycling. In recent years, through inspection and propaganda work, some households have invested in fire prevention equipment, overcome violations and shortcomings in environmental pollution, labor safety...
Comrade Pham Thai Hung, Vice Chairman of Duong Hao Ward People's Committee informed: In addition to strengthening inspection of compliance with legal regulations in production and business at establishments, in the coming time, with expanded administrative boundaries, the ward will develop a plan for concentrated production areas so that scrap recycling facilities have the conditions to build synchronous production infrastructure, promoting the efficiency of industry operations.
And close the door to avoid inspection
The plastic recycling village of Minh Khai hamlet, Nhu Quynh commune currently has 630 households engaged in the production and recycling of scrap. Here, wastewater and dust are discharged directly into the environment, the air is always suffocating and difficult to breathe. When they learned that there was an inspection team under Plan No. 106, 80% of the households working here temporarily closed and stopped production.
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Son, Deputy Head of Minh Khai village, the fact that households temporarily stop production when there is an inspection force is to deal with not meeting legal regulations in production and business and to avoid being punished.
At the factory, scrap recycling area is over 1 thousand m2. According to Mr. Pham Van Toan in Bui village, My Hao ward, the situation of production materials piled up, narrow walkways, a tangled and unsafe electrical system, and old, broken, and expired on-site fire protection equipment has existed for a long time. When he learned that there was a plan to inspect the craft village, Mr. Toan invested nearly 300 million VND to build a wastewater treatment system, buy pumps, and install fire hydrants.
Inspections at craft villages producing and recycling scrap in the province have contributed to raising awareness and consciousness of production facility owners. However, when there are still signs of coping, the inspection work has not brought long-term effectiveness. Production facilities and workers in craft villages recycling scrap in the province need to change their compliance mindset from passive to proactive, from coping to practical, not only to develop the family economy but also to protect the health and life of themselves and the community.
