During the inspection, the working group identified the complicated situation of encroachment on flood drainage channels and streams in many communes of Lam Dong province. The consequences are obstructing the flow, increasing the risk of flooding during the rainy season, seriously affecting the management efficiency of the government.
Faced with this situation, authorities are implementing many resolute measures to ensure the safety of irrigation works.

According to Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited (Lam Dong province), as of the end of July 2025, the whole province recorded 443 violations of flood drainage canal and stream corridors. Of these, localities have handled 430 cases, while 163 cases have not been resolved.
For example, at Song Luy Lake, many households have set up tents, built temporary houses, planted trees, and raised aquatic animals in rafts right in the lake area. Recently, the Phan Son Commune authorities have worked with and required 4 households to relocate and dismantle all illegal structures before December 15, 2025, otherwise they will be forcibly handled.

At the Da Bac, Long Song, and Phan Dung flood drainage channels, encroachment, material accumulation, and garbage dumping, causing blockage of the flow, are still common, despite many inspections. At Du Du Lake and Tan Lap Lake in Ham Thuan Nam Commune, the flood drainage corridor has been encroached upon in many places, causing difficulties for drainage, but has not yet been completely resolved.
Many cases of encroachment on flood drainage canals and streams have existed for many years, reducing flood drainage efficiency as well as ensuring safety for irrigation works, especially during the rainy and stormy season...

The inspection team representative assessed that the river system was encroached upon by many households and had not been thoroughly handled. At the same time, he said that in addition to reporting violations to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the team increased propaganda and mobilized households that violated the regulations to promptly correct them, avoiding affecting flood drainage. At the same time, they mobilized people to clear bushes and clear the flow.
