Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thin, President of the Association of Vietnamese People in Thailand (General Association) and teachers recalled memories of the days nearly a century ago when Vietnamese people first migrated to Thailand.

Although the previous generations faced many difficulties, when they stabilized their lives, they did not forget their duty to take care of the younger generation. They went to every Vietnamese village to encourage the teaching of Vietnamese to overseas Vietnamese children.

By 1974, the education system for overseas Vietnamese in Thailand had existed from kindergarten to grade 8 and 9. Most of the young generation at that time could speak and write Vietnamese.

The President of the General Association also said that the Fatherland always cares about and does not forget the past contributions of teachers who have contributed to the education of the Vietnamese community abroad. To show gratitude to teachers, the Party and State have organized many trips to visit the homeland and training courses on teaching Vietnamese for overseas Vietnamese teachers.

Mr. Thin also expressed his hope that teachers would continue to organize Vietnamese classes, encourage overseas Vietnamese to use Vietnamese, and carry out the movement "Go home and speak Vietnamese, meet each other and speak Vietnamese".

Overseas Vietnamese together recall memories of the first days of learning Vietnamese.

Reminiscing about the contributions of teachers who have sown letters to generations of Vietnamese people in Thailand, Mr. Duong Van Tang, currently Head of the Education Department of the Vietnamese Association of Mukdahan Province, said: “Throughout the long journey, our overseas Vietnamese teachers have sacrificed their youth for the education of overseas Vietnamese children. Difficulties and hardships cannot make teachers retreat, they are still determined to rise high and lead their students to glory.”

Teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, in charge of the Education Department of the Vietnamese Association of Udon Thani Province, said that after a long period of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Vietnamese language class in Udon Thani Province has reopened with 8 classes consisting of more than 30 students and 10 teachers. Although they are all over 70 years old, with the passion of the teaching profession, the teachers still make efforts every day to teach the children to speak and write Vietnamese.

Currently, overseas Vietnamese in Udon Thani are launching a movement to speak Vietnamese, but it is necessary that at home, grandparents and parents must speak Vietnamese with their children and grandchildren, so that the younger generation likes Vietnamese, thinks in Vietnamese and can speak Vietnamese.

In a joyful atmosphere, overseas teachers and former teachers sang songs together about love for their homeland, Uncle Ho and the profession of people's teachers.
