Specifically, the total import-export turnover of goods cleared at Hai Phong Customs in the first quarter of 2024 reached about 29.73 billion USD, an increase of 16.5% over the same period in 2023.

Of which, export turnover reached 15.08 billion USD, up 19.5%; export turnover with tax alone reached 121.13 million USD, up 1.2%; import turnover reached 14.65 billion USD, up 13.5%, import turnover with tax alone reached nearly 5.32 billion USD, up 7%.

Although import and export turnover in general has increased quite a bit, some import groups with important tax contributions have seen turnover decrease.

Specifically, the taxable import turnover of iron and steel, cosmetics and machinery and equipment increased compared to the same period in 2023. Of which, iron and steel reached 869.8 million USD, up 28.1%; cosmetics reached 4.22 million USD, up 74% and machinery and equipment reached nearly 1.2 billion USD, up 7.7%.

Meanwhile, import turnover of all kinds of automobiles, auto parts and accessories, motorbikes, motorbike parts and accessories, gasoline, beer and alcohol decreased compared to the same period in 2023.

The decline in turnover of commodity groups with large tax contributions at Hai Phong Customs is quite similar to the general situation of the whole industry.

According to the assessment of the General Department of Customs, the decrease in the quantity and value of imported petroleum products in the first quarter resulted in a decrease in revenue of about VND 2,000 billion; meanwhile, the decrease in revenue due to the decrease in the quantity and value of imported automobiles resulted in a decrease in revenue of about VND 4,000 billion.
