Artist Kim Tu Long and his student Le Hau met with the press on the afternoon of May 17th to share details about the program celebrating Le Hau's 14 years in the profession.

Kim Tu Long considered Le Hau his student, and they often appeared together in many programs and Cai Luong plays produced by Kim Tu Long.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online, Kim Tu Long shared that he and Le Hau first met when he was a judge on the "Road to Famous Cai Luong Singers" program, and Le Hau was a contestant. That year, he directly coached Le Hau, and as a result, Hau was in the top 3 of the competition.

At the 2020 Golden Bell Vọng Cổ Singing Competition, teacher and student had the opportunity to reunite when Kim Tử Long continued as a coach, and Lê Hậu was a contestant. That year, Hậu won the silver bell overall.

Seeing that Hau had a good singing voice, a hardworking and diligent personality, and a thirst for learning, Kim Tu Long created many opportunities for Hau to participate with him in various cultural programs and plays.

Kim Tu Long said: "I don't teach, but through talent competitions on television, I've had quite a few young people who consider me their teacher. As someone who's been through this for a while, I want to pass on my experience to them and help them get more gigs and progress in their careers."

"Le Hau is closer to me because he's male, which makes it easier for him to perform anywhere, and the teacher-student interaction is more relaxed compared to female students. Hau is kind-hearted, respectful of his teacher and friends, and passionate about his profession, so I appreciate him. His weakness is that he's sometimes too blunt during competitions, which can be off-putting to some. I've given him feedback many times, and he's listened, so things are better now."

Kim Tu Long views the live show as a challenge for Le Hau.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online, Le Hau said that he has been pursuing his career since graduating from the Department of Traditional Opera at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Film, and that he has been in the profession for 14 years now.

After graduating, Hau mainly worked independently without being permanently assigned to any theater troupe, so in terms of fame, Le Hau is still relatively unknown and is considered a young actor.

However, during his singing career, Hau received much love and support from the audience, so he once tried his hand at a mini-show with about 300 seats. Surprisingly, the show was packed with viewers. This motivated Hau to come up with the idea of ​​organizing a live show. Although it's still more than half a month away, 70% of the tickets have already been sold, which is a great joy for Hau.

When thinking about putting on a show, Hau asked his mentor to direct it. Kim Tu Long said that because he admired Hau, he also thought about how to create a program that would subtly highlight Hau's career journey.

He said that Hau has the advantage of a good singing voice and is quite good at playing social roles, but is still limited when performing in traditional plays. Therefore, Kim Tu Long sees the live show as a challenge that forces Le Hau to strive to surpass herself, and also an opportunity for Hau to gain experience with difficult roles and learn valuable lessons from those who came before her.

The program, titled "Homeland's Scent, Mother's Love," will take place on June 8th at the Tran Huu Trang Theater. Kim Tu Long will perform a Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) excerpt with Le Hau, specifically the "Hao Kiet Lam Son" (Heroes of Lam Son) excerpt. This is the play he previously directed for Kim Tieu Long to participate in the 2024 National Cai Luong Festival in Can Tho City.

In this excerpt, Kim Tu Long plays Le Loi and Le Hau plays Le Lai, in the scene where Le Lai saves the king. Besides singing with his teacher, Le Hau also sings excerpts from "The Ferry of Memories" with Phuong Cam Ngoc, "Chieu Quan's Tribute to the Mongols" with Vo Ngoc Quyen , and the Cai Luong opera "My Mother's Sorrow " with artist Phuong Hang.

In addition, there will be traditional and modern songs featuring artists such as Le Giang, Thuy Trang, Uyen Trang, Thanh Thuc, Hai Yen, Thanh Hong, To Thien Kieu, Thanh Thuy, Chi Bao, MC Dai Nghia, etc.
