Taking advantage of e-commerce platforms will open up more opportunities for businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, to access large markets. E-commerce platforms are not only a solution to create direct links between manufacturers and consumers, but also reduce intermediate distribution steps, helping to reduce product costs.
Inevitable trend
Thanks to his understanding of the market and proactive use of technology, Mr. Nguyen Huu Vinh, owner of a Taiwanese incense production facility in Di An City, is actively promoting the introduction of his facility's products to e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada and social networks such as Facebook, Zalo, etc. Mr. Vinh said that to bring products to e-commerce sites, the products must be of good quality. Recently, the factory has launched a line of clean incense products made from herbs, agarwood, cinnamon, etc. due to high demand for orders.
“We will focus on expanding the production of these products according to customer requirements. The Covid-19 pandemic has temporarily subsided, but online and multi-channel shopping is still a popular trend. Not only that, consumers are also particularly interested and more strict about health issues when prioritizing choosing products with reputable brands, green and clean labels,” Mr. Vinh shared.
Customs officers screen express delivery goods of enterprises at Song Than Customs Branch
It can be said that cross-border e-commerce has become an open state for Vietnamese enterprises to recover and accelerate in the international trade race. Analysis from experts shows that in the past, import-export activities seemed to be only for large-scale enterprises with high economic potential. However, currently, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises can also reach global trade equally if they are truly proactive.
Mr. Tran Do Hoai Bao, Director of He Vi Production and Trade Joint Stock Company, Ben Cat Town, also shared that building a brand is difficult but maintaining a brand is even more difficult. Especially in the period of innovation, competition is increasingly fierce, Vietnamese enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises, need to keep up with technology to avoid being left behind. Mr. Bao hopes that taking advantage of e-commerce platforms will open up more opportunities for small and medium enterprises to access large markets with good products that are suitable for the market; at the same time, penetrate difficult markets, where there are many barriers and high costs if trading in the traditional way.
Meet the needs
Recently, Lazada Logistics Vietnam has officially inaugurated Lazada Logistics Park with the focus being the most modern high-tech goods sorting center in Song Than 1 Industrial Park. With a total area of nearly 20,000m2, the new sorting center is capable of processing up to 1 million parcels per day and has an automation level of up to 99% thanks to a modern technology system including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
Mr. Vu Duc Thinh, Director of Lazada Logistics Vietnam, said that the new sorting center is not only a breakthrough in the development of Lazada Logistics, but also marks an important step forward in the e-commerce logistics industry in Vietnam in general. “We believe that with these efforts, Lazada Logistics will actively contribute to building a sustainable e-commerce logistics ecosystem, thereby meeting the increasing online shopping needs of users,” Mr. Vu Duc Thinh affirmed.
Binh Duong Customs Department has also officially implemented import and export procedures for goods via express delivery service at Tan Cang Express Joint Stock Company, located at 7/20 DT743 Street, Binh Dang Quarter, Binh Hoa Ward, Thuan An City. The implementation of express delivery service is an opportunity for postal and express delivery service enterprises to develop and mature, creating a breakthrough in the development of e-commerce, diversifying types of export and import of goods, contributing to the formation of a large logistics center of the region, forming a stable supply chain of goods for customers in Binh Duong province.
The implementation of express delivery service is a new type in the province. Previously, import and export of goods in Binh Duong was mainly by sea and transited to land border gates to the southern provinces. Now, enterprises can carry out customs procedures for express delivery goods right in Binh Duong with a cross-border air warehouse system.
Mr. Nguyen Tran Hieu, Director of Binh Duong Customs Department, said that in Vietnam in general and Binh Duong in particular, online export is still new because cross-border e-commerce has very strict requirements. However, if the requirements are met, the market potential is huge. Currently, there are many international e-commerce platforms supporting Vietnamese enterprises to sell goods across borders such as Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, Shopee Global, etc. When e-commerce develops strongly, online export will be the destination of many enterprises, of all types and sizes.
Mr. Nguyen Tran Hieu, Director of Binh Duong Customs Department: “The application of technology, digital transformation along with “green” development is a new trend that forces businesses to grasp and change. This is not only a problem for corporations and large enterprises but also a problem for small and medium enterprises, especially in the context of consumers increasingly paying attention to convenience when shopping and the assurance, safety and quality of products”.
