In Mathematics, 513 candidates scored 10 points, the most popular score was 4.75, the average score was 4.78. In English, the most popular score was 5.25. In Literature, the most popular score was 7.5, the average score was 7.0. The average score of Natural Sciences was quite good.
The good score distribution reflects the qualityof education , has good differentiation; the improved test, assessing students' abilities, is a reliable basis for universities to recruit students. In particular, the test results show that the first batch of students taking the test under the new program have the ability to adapt quite quickly.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Son - Principal of Hanoi National University of Education commented: When the results were not available, we thought that the students could not do it, the results would be shocking. But the results showed that the candidates could do it, this proves that they have adapted.
In addition to the positive points, the results of the high school graduation exam this year reflect some limitations in the organization of teaching and learning of the 2018 General Education Program from the grassroots level. Although the program, textbooks, and exam questions have changed significantly, the actual grading and exam results show that the teaching methods of some teachers in some places have not kept up with the innovation. When faced with the new points of the exam, many students are still confused and the results are not as expected, especially in Math, English, and Literature.
The 2025 High School Graduation Math exam is highly differentiated; integration factors, using meaningful contexts associated with images and real-life situations account for a large proportion. However, a number of students still have difficulty accepting new things, so the average score for this subject this year is lower than in previous years.
In the Foreign Language subject, especially English, the test results showed the candidates' limitations in the requirements of the 4 language skills, especially vocabulary. If they only study according to the current textbooks, students cannot meet the requirements of the test, but they need to study more from outside sources.
This is not an easy task for students in rural and remote areas. In Literature, a number of candidates are still not proficient in reading and understanding non-textual materials, reflecting in part the situation where teachers still neglect teaching speaking and listening; leaving students to swim in reading and receiving on their own.
The limitations of the 2025 high school graduation exam results require that the teaching of Mathematics needs to be reshaped in the direction of connecting with life. Teachers need to pay attention to equipping students with logical thinking and situational analysis as well as the ability to apply knowledge into practice, helping students handle the new exam questions well.
Along with teachers needing to make efforts to innovate their methods, localities and schools must also have solutions to support students in disadvantaged areas in learning English. Whether or not to use textbook materials in the upcoming Literature exams is also a concern for many teachers and subject experts.
There are some limitations in the first year of the exam, which is understandable, because in reality, innovation always has a certain delay in terms of human resources, teaching methods and conditions. However, from the limitations, many valuable experiences in management, direction and implementation of innovation have been gained.
After the exam results are out, the Education sector will seriously re-evaluate the program, textbooks, staff and students' ability to receive information in order to consider adjusting the limitations, so that the teaching of the 2018 General Education Program is in line with the goal of assessing ability, for an education of "real learning, real exams, real talent".
