The Old Testament is an important series of books about the Old Covenant (Old Testament) between God and the Jewish people, before the birth of Jesus. The Old Testament series (published by Omega+ and Religion Publishing House) is divided into 4 main parts, including:
The Law or Pentateuch (commonly called "Torah" by Jews). The important content of this section, in addition to explaining the origin of the universe and the reason for the formation of the Covenant between God and the chosen Jewish people, also systematically presents all the important laws/doctrines that are the foundation of Judaism from the beginning.
The most reliable and scientific translation ever published in Vietnamese, highly appreciated by researchers and an important reference source for seminarians of major seminaries and institutes of religious orders.
History and Stories: Compared to the Pentateuch, the History and Stories group recounts the historical process of the Jewish people, along with the process of preserving and maintaining the Covenant established between them and God. Besides the narrative elements about the history of the nation and religion, the legal framework covering the entire Jewish spiritual life, the History and Stories group also contains details about the lineage of Jesus, symbols that will be repeated in the Gospels (in the New Testament) signaling the appearance of a Messiah who is of the lineage of King David.
Poetry: This group of books is also considered the Wisdom group, in which Jewish scholars express their wisdom through their personal life experiences and logical abilities. They focus on the human condition but place it under the light of Yahweh (God) religion.
Prophetic Books: In Hebrew, the word used to refer to prophets is Nabi (which originally means "to call, to announce"); accordingly, prophets are those who hold the responsibility of "announcer", messenger and person who conveys the "Word" of God. Perhaps that is why the image of Jewish prophets often appears as preaching, which can be considered dogmatic, but they are the most important part if one wants to understand the Covenant between God and the Chosen People.
