OCEAN TUNA, "XU NAU" BAI CHOI ON THE HIGHLANDS

During the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays, the Dak Lak - Phu Yen culinary and artistic exchange program held in Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak) attracted a large number of locals and tourists. Here, chefs from Phu Yen demonstrated their skillful skills in preparing ocean tuna dishes. While working, the chefs introduced techniques for handling fish, cutting each piece of fish, preparing spices, and presenting fresh delicacies from the ocean. Chef Nguyen Manh Thuat, a Phu Yen chef, excitedly said: "Ocean tuna is a specialty of the Phu Yen sea. The Phu Yen Chef Association chose to bring a 65 kg fresh tuna here to personally prepare and introduce to locals and tourists in the mountain town. This is also an activity to demonstrate coastal culinary culture, contributing to promoting the unique features of Phu Yen tourism."

At the festival, people in the mountain town also got to watch the performance of Phu Yen stone zither, singing "Xu Nau" bai choi... Ms. Hua Thi Gui, Head of Phu Yen bai choi club, said that bai choi is a unique folk art form, combining music , poetry and performance, recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. "This is also a folk game about homeland, country, love for people, performed with the chanting of cards mixed with Phu Yen folk songs, bringing a new, fun but meaningful experience to people and tourists of the plateau", Ms. Gui said.

According to Mr. Nguyen Le Vu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen, by participating in cultural activities during the April 30 and May 1 holidays in Dak Lak, Phu Yen province also strives to introduce typical tourist destinations of the coastal region, contributing to attracting tourists from the highlands. "These exchange activities continue the program of practical cooperation and tourism development between the two localities, on the basis of culture with its own unique identity, in harmony with the great forest and the blue sea," Mr. Vu commented.

MORNING COFFEE IN BAN ME, AFTERNOON RETURN TO TUY HOA TO SWIM IN THE BEACH

On the other hand, the recent holiday also witnessed a large influx of tourists from the highlands to enjoy the sea. Mr. Le Van Truong, a civil servant residing in Tan An Ward (Buon Ma Thuot City), said that during the holidays, he drove his family to Phu Yen, accompanied by many familiar families and friends. "It has been a long time since there has been a wave of passenger vans and cars on National Highway 29 connecting Dak Lak and Phu Yen. A few years ago, my family traveled to Phu Yen several times during the holidays, but this time we saw a much larger number of tourists from Dak Lak. Tuy Hoa residents were also surprised because they had never seen car 47 (Dak Lak license plate) and highland tourists crowded together in this coastal city," Mr. Truong shared.

Mr. Truong also said that now, in daily conversations with neighbors and colleagues, the most hotly debated issue is the merger of Dak Lak and Phu Yen into one province. "After the merger, Dak Lak will also be "proud" to have a sea. People in Ban Me (Buon Ma Thuot) do not have to travel far but can leisurely have morning coffee at home, then a few hours later return to Tuy Hoa to play with the blue sea and white sand," Mr. Truong excitedly said.

Statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen also show that during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the province welcomed about 85,000 visitors, an increase of 55% over the same period last year. Most of the visitors came from the Central Highlands provinces such as

Dak Lak, Gia Lai. During the peak holiday season, most hotels and homestays near Tuy Hoa beach are at maximum room capacity...

" DAK LAK PEOPLE TRAVEL TO... DAK LAK "

Those working in tourism management in Dak Lak welcomed the news of the province merger with joy and optimism about the development prospects of local tourism. Ms. Nguyen Thuy Phuong Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak, said that for many years, the two provinces have had a close connection in tourism activities, and now that they are "under one roof", exploiting the potential and strengths of tourism will be even more convenient and effective.

According to Ms. Hieu, Phu Yen owns the second longest coastline in the South Central region (189 km) with many scenic spots such as: Ganh Da Dia, Bai Xep, Xuan Dai Bay, Vung Ro, Mui Dien (the place to welcome the first sunrise on the mainland of Vietnam)... Meanwhile, Dak Lak is famous as the center of the Central Highlands, associated with the space of gong culture, the land of immense coffee, the place with the most domesticated elephants in the country, the majestic waterfalls of Dray Sap, Dray Nur, Yok Don primeval forest, attractive places such as Lak Lake, Buon Don, and the traditional cultural identity of many indigenous peoples... In addition, both Dak Lak and Phu Yen have many historical relics, red addresses, attractive cultural events, festivals, and trade held annually... That is the space and catalyst to nurture sustainable tourism.

Ms. Hieu also said that the weather is quite contrasting between the two localities of Dak Lak and Phu Yen, when it is rainy season in the highlands, it is sunny in the coastal areas or vice versa, which is also an advantage when organizing unique two-way inter-regional tourism routes and products, connecting the coast and the highlands.

"After the merger of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces, there are many opportunities to exploit domestic tourism sources. With the economic growth momentum, the advantage of a large population (after the merger, it is more than 3.2 million people), the material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved, tourism will have a driving force for development. Along with tourism linkages between provinces in the region, we will focus on strongly developing domestic tourism, promoting and advertising, building events and stimulus policies at tourist areas and spots, developing new products to attract tourists with the program Dak Lak people travel to Dak Lak", Ms. Hieu is optimistic.

Linking to develop many types of tourism

According to Ms. Nguyen Thuy Phuong Hieu, in the coming time, Dak Lak tourism industry will continue to implement the cooperation program signed in 2019 with the provinces of Nghe An, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Accordingly, the provinces support each other to create typical and distinct tourism programs of the region, converging diverse tourism resources with advantages of forests, seas, rivers, lakes; cultural and historical relic systems, craft villages to develop many types of source tourism, community ecotourism, resort tourism, sea tourism...
