TPO – The Kon Tum City Forest Protection Department (Kon Tum province) has just received a rare and endangered python voluntarily handed over by a local resident.
On September 23, the Kon Tum City Forest Protection Department announced that it had received a python, a rare and endangered forest animal, voluntarily handed over by residents of Hoa Binh commune.

Accordingly, this python was discovered and temporarily protected by Ms. NTTS (residing in Hamlet 4, Hoa Binh Commune, Kon Tum City), who then reported it and voluntarily handed it over to the forest rangers.
The Burmese python, scientifically known as Python molurus, belongs to group IIB and is listed in the Catalogue of Endangered, Precious, and Rare Forest Plants and Animals (according to Decree No. 84/ND-CP, dated September 22, 2021, of the Government).

After receiving the python from local residents, the Kon Tum City Forest Protection Department quickly transported and handed it over to the Center for Biodiversity Conservation and Ecotourism of Chu Mom Ray National Park (Sa Thầy district) for rescue and care. When conditions are suitable, the unit will release the python back into its natural environment according to regulations.
On August 18th, the Kon Tum City Forest Protection Department handed over another python weighing 5kg to the Management Board of Chu Mom Ray National Park.
On September 7th, the Biodiversity Conservation and Ecotourism Center of Chu Mom Ray National Park, in coordination with the Kon Tum City Forest Protection Department and the Sa Thầy District Agricultural Services Center, organized a team to assess and release a Burmese python back into its natural environment.
