According to statistics of districts and cities from January 1, 2024 to June 31, 2024, in Kon Tum province, the total number of married couples, including those living together as husband and wife, is 1,872 couples. Of which, 1,825 couples are of legal age; there are 28 cases of child marriage of husband or wife (accounting for 1.5%), a decrease of 54 cases compared to 2023; there are 19 couples of child marriage of both husband and wife (accounting for 1%), a decrease of 7 couples compared to 2023; there are 119 cases of ethnic minority women giving birth to children under 18 years old, a decrease of 68 cases compared to 2023; there are no cases of incestuous marriage.
To minimize the situation of TH&HNCHT, in the coming time, Kon Tum province will continue to strengthen the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels and promote the role and responsibility of village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in the community; integrate intervention activities and promptly prevent cases showing signs of TH&HNCHT. Actively build typical examples in propaganda and mobilization work to eliminate the situation of TH&HNCHT to create a spreading effect.
Promote the role of cadres and civil servants in propaganda and mobilization of ethnic minorities to comply with the Law on Marriage and Family, in order to create a profound change in awareness, enhance the responsibility of the entire political system in reducing the situation of TH&HNCHT, considering this an important and regular task of the entire political system from the provincial, district, and commune levels to each village and residential group. Strengthen propaganda work on the harms and consequences of TH&HNCHT to raise people's awareness, and include TH&HNCHT content in extracurricular activities of junior high schools and high schools to raise students' awareness.
At the same time, direct units and localities to strictly handle cases of TH&HNCHT and individual households that do not comply, deliberately violate and allow their children to TH&HNCHT against the provisions of the law. Continue to effectively maintain and implement pilot models to reduce the situation of TH&HNCHT in localities.
