(GLO) - On Chu Glap mountain (Ring village, Hbong commune, Chu Se district, Gia Lai province), there are many strange rocks stacked on top of each other naturally. Among these, the most prominent is the Glap rock formation.

Mount Chu Glap is located about 5 km southwest of the Hbong Commune People's Committee headquarters. To reach this mountain, from Ring village, we followed a winding, rocky trail through the fields and gardens of the local people. After about 15 minutes of riding a motorbike, towering, majestic rocks appeared before our eyes on the mountaintop.

Along the way, Village Head Ksor Túy explained: Previously, the villagers of Ring lived near the Ayun Hạ reservoir. In 1993, following the policy of the Party and State, the villagers relocated to live near the Chư Glap mountain area. There, they discovered many strange, giant rocks on the mountaintop. Among them, there was one rock with many smaller rocks stacked on top of each other, reaching tens of meters in height.

From our observation, the stacked rocks are approximately 30 meters high and 20 meters in diameter, consisting of seven rocks stacked on top of each other. The base of this particular rock has the largest diameter, while the remaining rocks are stacked together like a tower.

“This rock has been here for a long time. Around 6 to 7 in the morning, if you stand in Ia Ake commune (Phu Thien district) and look towards Chu Glap mountain, you can still clearly see the rock stacked on the mountaintop. During the resistance war against the French colonialists, the Chu Glap mountain area was a hiding place for guerrilla forces,” Mr. Tuy said.

Mount Chu Glap is not only impressive for its unique shape but also holds many mysterious and sacred stories. Mr. Rmah Plim (Ring village) said: When he was a child, the elders in the village told him that this rock was created by a giant couple.

After creating the rock, they placed a button on it, and locals often say that praying there will bring good fortune. However, to receive these wishes, the guardian deity has stipulated that hunting wild animals living in the surrounding area is prohibited.

“I heard the elders in the village say that: In the past, while going up the mountain to set traps, the villagers saw a very large snake coiled around a rock, so they were frightened and ran back home. Since then, whenever the villagers set traps in this place, they never catch a squirrel or a rat.”

"In the past, Chu Glap Mountain was very wild, with many animals and ancient trees. But later, due to the deforestation and the villagers using the surrounding land for agriculture , fewer people know about the mysterious stories," Mr. Plim shared.

Standing on the summit of Chu Glap mountain, we gazed out at the majestic mountain scenery, enjoying the cool air amidst the vast green expanse of trees. The most beautiful time was at sunset, when the sun's rays shone down on the forest before gradually disappearing behind the mountain range, creating a poetic, picturesque scene.

Mr. Siu Vong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hbong commune, informed: Chu Glap Mountain has many large rocks, the most beautiful of which is the stacked rock formation. Currently, access to this area is difficult, and the local government hopes that agencies, departments, and businesses will invest in building a road to the mountain area to attract tourists to visit and experience it.
