Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Mai, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, said: November 25, 1970 was a sacred and important milestone, the moment when the Central Party Secretariat issued Resolution 206-NQ/TW deciding to establish the Committee in charge of building the Ho Chi Minh Museum. From the first policy in 1970 to the inauguration day on May 19, 1990 and until today, the Museum has gone through 20 years of preparation, 5 years of construction, and 35 years of continuous operation.
The Museum is not only a unique architectural symbol - a white lotus in the heart of the thousand-year-old capital Hanoi , but also a crystallization of the Vietnam-Russia friendship, a living testament to the proletarian international spirit that President Ho Chi Minh sowed and nurtured.
"Over the past 55 years, generations of cadres, civil servants and workers of the Museum have overcome many difficulties and challenges, tirelessly contributing to the cause of preserving and spreading the values of Ho Chi Minh's ideology," affirmed Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Mai.

During the period 1970-1990, the Museum focused on building facilities, collecting, researching, selecting and appraising tens of thousands of valuable artifacts and documents about Uncle Ho. This was the period of laying the foundation, forming a basic collection about his life and career.
In the period 1990-2010, after its inauguration, the Ho Chi Minh Museum became a large cultural and educational center, welcoming millions of domestic and foreign visitors. Exhibition, education and propaganda activities were expanded, and the forms became more and more vivid, close and suitable for each target group.
In the period 2010-2020, the Museum entered a period of strong innovation in thinking and operation methods: from a traditional museum to a modern, friendly museum, applying digital technology, oriented towards the public, taking people as the center to perform the social function of the Museum.
In particular, in the past 5 years, the Ho Chi Minh Museum has achieved many remarkable and proud results. Collection and preservation work has been enhanced with 231 documents, artifacts, and rare materials about President Ho Chi Minh and his era being supplemented and digitized; Exhibition and propaganda activities have had many creative innovations with 62 thematic exhibitions and mobile exhibitions domestically and internationally; Research and publishing work has achieved many results with 5 scientific seminars and talks organized, 10 books and publications about President Ho Chi Minh, 12 issues of the Museum's Information and Documents Special Edition published, 3 ministerial-level scientific topics, 4 basic scientific topics completed, contributing significantly to the Museum's scientific research work.

Up to now, the Museum is preserving 170,000 units of documents, artifacts, images, and precious materials, including many original and unique artifacts associated with the revolutionary life of President Ho Chi Minh. This is an invaluable source of documents serving the work of propaganda and political and ideological education, contributing to affirming the role, stature, personality and ideological heritage of Ho Chi Minh in the Vietnamese revolutionary cause and the world revolutionary movement.
The Museum has welcomed more than 40 million domestic and foreign visitors, including more than 10 million foreigners who came to visit and study the biography, career and ideology of Ho Chi Minh. Many guests are high-ranking leaders, leaders of the Party, State and international. During 55 years of construction and development, the Museum has been awarded many medals and noble prizes from the Party and State.
