According to AS , La Liga has just announced a "delayed registration" mechanism that allows clubs struggling with salary caps to register up to three additional players in the final stages of the transfer market, despite strict financial restrictions.
Of those three special slots, two players must arrive as free agents (without a fee) and one can be signed for a fee. This rule is intended to allow teams to still strengthen their squad in urgent situations, but without compromising their long-term financial sustainability.

Previously, when welcoming new players, clubs had to ensure that their wage bill would not only last one but two seasons. With this rule, La Liga has seen many deals stall or collapse in the past. Therefore, the new regulation is seen as an intermediate step to balance competitiveness and financial discipline.
However, if clubs fail to raise enough funds to officially register players signed under this mechanism within the allowed time, they will not be able to use this right again for players who have already signed contracts. In that case, the club itself will have to bear the consequences of signing players that cannot be included in the squad.
In parallel, LaLiga has also introduced another notable change: setting a minimum salary cap of 30% of clubs' revenue. This is an important lifeline, especially for financially strapped teams like Sevilla, who had a salary cap of just 684,000 euros last season.
