The "Chengdu Jinjiang Cup" tournament is taking place in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China from November 20 to 23. Many of Vietnam's strongest players, including Lai Ly Huynh, are sent to participate in the tournament.
The tournament is divided into two stages: the singles qualifying round takes place on November 20 and the doubles stage from November 21 to 23.
In the first round, Lai Ly Huynh won 6 points, ranked 7th in the "Hong Soai" group (the group for strong players). The Vietnamese players were only 1 point behind the strongest group of Chinese players such as Doan Thang, Manh Phon Due...
This result did not help Lai Ly Huynh win a significant bonus for round 1. But in the official round, the draw brought Lai Ly Huynh to a very interesting result.
Specifically, the person who paired with Lai Ly Huynh in the official round was Lang Ky Ky, one of the most famous female chess players.
Lang Ky Ky is 26 years old this year. She became a Grandmaster of Chinese Chess (equivalent to a Grandmaster in chess) when she was just 17 years old.

Lang Qi Qi's strength is on par with many of China's top male players. In this tournament, she was placed in the "Black Marshal" group.
Doubles is an interesting format in Chinese chess, often called "doubles". Accordingly, 2 players on a team will take turns making each move, without exchanging moves with each other.
This type of competition usually requires the understanding and similarity of skill level between 2 players in the same team. However, the organizers divided each player into different strong and weak groups, making the surprise factor even higher.
The random draw paired Wang Yu Bo (China) with Wu Zong Han (Singapore) - who, although in the "Black Marshal" group, is no less powerful than the "Red Marshal" group. Therefore, this duo is obviously considered the strongest in the tournament.
The tournament has a total prize of up to 1.5 billion VND, in which the champion pair will win a bonus of 740 million VND.
