Driver fined 23 million VND for covering license plate with tape

According to Road Traffic Police Team No. 4, Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, after feedback from people on social networks yesterday, January 30, the authorities identified the taxi driver with the covered license plate as a 37-year-old male driver, residing in Dong Da district, Hanoi.

At the police station, the driver admitted to using tape to cover the number 8 on the license plate, and also to change the letter F to an E. The license plate number was identified as 30F-282.73.

In addition to being fined 23 million VND, the driver also had his driver's license suspended and 6 points deducted.

According to Decree 168/2024, the act of covering a license plate will be fined 20-26 million VND and deducted 6 driving license points. The driver who commits the violation will also be subject to the additional penalty of having the license plate confiscated.
