At the meeting, Mr. Huynh Canh, Chairman of Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association, said: In the first half of 2025, the dragon fruit industry in Lam Dong province continued to affirm its leading position in the country. With favorable climatic conditions, along with the efforts of farmers and businesses, output and export value both grew quite well.

Not only maintaining the traditional market in China, the province has also expanded to high-end markets such as the EU, the US, Japan, South Korea and potential emerging markets such as India and the Middle East. Besides positive signals, the dragon fruit industry still faces many challenges.

These include increasingly stringent quarantine and traceability requirements, rising transportation costs, as well as fierce competition from Thailand, Ecuador and China itself. This requires the Association and businesses to constantly improve quality, diversify products and build strong brands…

At the meeting, delegates discussed the orientation for sustainable dragon fruit development in the period 2025 - 2030. Thereby, they proposed solutions to overcome existing difficulties in product quality management, market development, especially removing obstacles in export procedures.

Accordingly, the Dragon Fruit Association of Cooperatives and Enterprises proposed that the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province coordinate with relevant units to speed up the process of granting certificates for exporting dragon fruit to the EU market.
At the same time, recalculate the issuance of new growing area codes after merging administrative units; revoke growing area codes for establishments and enterprises that do not operate in export activities; focus on producing dragon fruit according to GlobalGAP standards; promote trade promotion of dragon fruit markets domestically and internationally.

After listening to opinions and recommendations from units and businesses, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province Nguyen Hoang Phuc assigned the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection to promptly review and implement the growing area code and packaging facility code. On the other hand, he requested localities to promote the construction of a chain linking production to safe consumption of dragon fruit.

The aim is to increase the value of agricultural products and meet diverse export markets. The leaders of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment also agreed to organize conferences to connect supply and demand to promote dragon fruit products to a number of potential markets.
