On August 30, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province informed that the Department of Fisheries and Seas and Islands has completed its functions, tasks and organizational structure to soon handle the registration and inspection of fishing vessels.

Accordingly, the Department of Fisheries and Islands will help the Department advise the Provincial People's Committee on state management of fisheries, and comprehensive management of marine and island resources and environment.

In addition, the Department performs public service activities in the area. In particular, the Fishing Vessel Inspection Center is a public service unit under the Department of Fisheries and Islands to grant inspection licenses for fishing vessels.

More than 2,100 fishing vessels with expired registration and licenses have had their licenses issued by the licensing agency.

Previously, 789 fishing vessels in the province had expired fishing licenses, 1,478 fishing vessels had expired fishing licenses, and did not ensure operating conditions, greatly affecting the province's task of combating IUU fishing .

The reason is that after the merger and consolidation into the new Lam Dong province, the Department of Fisheries and Seas and Islands; the Fishing Vessel Inspection Center is waiting for the issuance of new functions, tasks, organizational structure and seal engraving, so it cannot receive and process fishing vessel records of fishermen whose inspection has expired.
