Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of August 30, Mr. Nguyen Van Chien - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province - said that the locality has just completed the apparatus of the provincial Department of Fisheries and Sea Islands.
According to Mr. Chien, completing the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Department of Fisheries and Sea Islands of Lam Dong province is an important key to help the locality soon stabilize state management related to fishing at sea.
Accordingly, the Department of Fisheries and Sea Islands of Lam Dong province is a unit under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province. This agency will help the Department advise the Provincial People's Committee on state management of the field of fisheries, and comprehensive management of marine and island resources and environment.
Mr. Chien added that in the context of the locality's efforts to prevent illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, the early completion of the branch will be effective and avoid disruption.
Previously, nearly 2,200 fishing vessels in Lam Dong province had expired inspection and fishing licenses. According to the locality, this will not ensure operating conditions, greatly affecting Lam Dong province's task of combating IUU fishing.
Lam Dong Province Department of Agriculture and Environment explained the above problem is that after merging into a new province, the Department of Fisheries and Sea Islands and the Fishing Vessel Inspection Center must wait for the issuance of functions, tasks, and organizational structure.
In addition, the new seal is not yet available, so these units cannot receive and process fishing vessel registration records of fishermen whose registration has expired.
