The race for the 2025 Ballon d'Or is heating up ahead of the winner being announced at a gala in Paris on September 22. Lamine Yamal is only 17 years old but has emerged as a strong candidate for this prestigious individual award, alongside Ousmane Dembele.

After the Champions League final, PSG 5-0 Inter Milan, the title of best player of the season in this European playground also belongs to the champion Dembele , giving the French striker many advantages.

Before the clash between Spain and France in the Nations League semi-finals (2am on June 6), Lamine Yamal was asked who would win the 2025 Ballon d'Or and this is the Barca talent's answer:

“ The Ballon d’Or should be given to the best player of the year. But if people want to choose the winner on Thursday, in the Spain vs France match, it will be Thursday. Imagine if something happened between me and Dembele in this meeting .”

Lamine Yamal added: “ I will vote for the best player of the year, but I won't tell you who it is. I will keep it a secret .”

In the season just ended, Lamine Yamal scored 18 goals and 25 assists for Barca in all competitions, while Dembele scored 33 goals and 15 assists.

In addition to the Ballon d'Or race, Yamal was also asked if he felt more pressure wearing the Barca number 10 shirt, amid the news that he will wear it from next season, this player said:
