First time introducing Podcast award category to National Radio Festival

On May 25 in Tuyen Quang province, Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in collaboration with Tuyen Quang Provincial Radio and Television Station organized the Preliminary Round of the 16th National Radio Festival - 2024.

Journalist Tran Minh Hung, Deputy General Director of the Voice of Vietnam, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 16th National Radio Festival, commented: This year, the participating radio works are relatively complete in all genres and categories of radio including: Reportage, thematic programs, interviews, ethnic language radio programs, radio stories, live radio programs, digital platform applications, podcasts, excellent staging techniques and golden voices.

For example, the ethnic language radio program category, which had been absent for many years, has returned this year with many quality works from Radio and Television stations of provinces and cities. Overall, the 380 entries from 81 units all have quite good themes, rich and diverse topics, elaborate staging, and many new approaches.

Journalist Tran Minh Hung also said that this year is the first year that the Organizing Committee has included the Podcast Award category in the Radio Festival to present awards. The Organizing Committee hopes to encourage the diverse development of media types, in order to better meet the needs of the public.

In addition, this year's Radio Festival also has sideline activities to increase the connection of radio workers across the country such as the race for healthy waves, the 9th national exchange program for lovers of Cheo art in Thanh Hoa .

"With careful and comprehensive preparation, we fully hope that the Final Round of the 16th National Radio Festival held next July will be a great success," journalist Tran Minh Hung affirmed.

Talking about the new points in the works in the Radio Story category this year, according to journalist Tran Nhat Minh, some Radio and Television Stations have improved their staging and acting skills, creating a clear story structure with high structure and artistry, thereby effectively conveying messages and content to the public.

However, there are also inevitable limitations, some works still have old writing styles, unattractive graphics and expressions; the content reflects local policies and guidelines that are academic and newsworthy, not artistic. In terms of acting, some works are also limited, and the use of music still needs to be adjusted in many places.

At the Preliminary Round of the 16th National Radio Festival, the Jury will evaluate and select the best radio works to participate in the Final Round of the 16th Radio Festival scheduled to take place in Thanh Hoa province from July 9-14.
