A "new wave" in the tourism business in Ha Tinh.

(Baohatinh.vn) - The homestay tourism model in Ha Tinh is increasingly being modernized, not only meeting the accommodation needs of tourists but also contributing to enhancing the value of local tourism services.

More than just a place to stay, homestays aim for a cozy and comfortable living space, allowing guests to organize their own meals, relax, and participate in local life activities. This is a clear difference compared to traditional hotels and guesthouses.

In the Thien Cam beach resort area (Thien Cam commune), several homestay establishments have quickly embraced the trend, attracting a steady stream of visitors, especially during peak seasons.

Hai Cam Homestay has been renovated and built to be closer to the lives of the local fishermen.

Staying at Hai Cam Homestay, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (a tourist from Hanoi ) shared: “My family chose a homestay not because of the cheap price, but because of the feeling of closeness. We can cook our own meals and live as if we were at home, without being dependent on service schedules. The most valuable thing is being able to immerse ourselves in the life of the local people, from going to the fish market in the early morning to watching boats dock. These experiences are hard to get if you only stay in a hotel and go sightseeing.”

What tourists are looking for is no longer simply a place to stay, but the feeling of living in an authentic environment – where every experience is directly connected to the real lives of the local people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (a tourist from Hanoi) was impressed with the welcoming atmosphere and activities related to the lives of local fishermen.

Mr. Hoang Nguyen Hoang – owner of Hai Cam Homestay (Chua village, Thien Cam commune) said: “The homestay has an area of nearly 200 m², with 2 bedrooms, suitable for family groups. Amenities such as a kitchen, refrigerator, and living area are designed like a home, allowing guests to live independently. We aim to create a feeling of closeness, like living in a local's home. Although it has only recently opened, the number of guests is quite stable, mainly from other provinces; on weekends, the room occupancy is basically full thanks to returning guests and referrals.”

The homestay model is spreading not only in Thien Cam commune but also in other coastal areas. In Ky Xuan commune, Ri Rao homestay, with its 9 sea-facing rooms and open spaces, is attracting tourists thanks to its direct connection to the lives of local fishermen.

Homestay Rì Rào has 9 fully equipped rooms for guests to relax in.

Ms. Bui Thi Chuong – manager of Ri Rao Homestay – shared: “The facility has 9 rooms, each over 50 m², fully equipped with amenities to serve tourists. During peak season, the rooms are usually fully occupied, mainly by families and out-of-town guests. The biggest advantage is its location right by the sea, allowing guests to directly access the natural environment without having to travel far. From their rooms, guests can watch the sunrise and sunset and observe the life of fishermen at sea. This is also a differentiating factor that helps the homestay retain tourists.”

According to surveys, homestay prices currently range from 300,000 to 3,500,000 VND per night, depending on size and amenities. Besides accommodation, many establishments have proactively organized experiential activities such as visiting fishing villages, swimming at the beach, enjoying seafood, exploring nearby tourist attractions, etc., contributing to product diversification and increasing the length of stay for tourists.

In addition, visitors can participate in many interesting activities such as: strolling along the beach, fishing with local fishermen, etc.

In the context of tourism shifting strongly towards personalization and immersive experiences, homestays are not simply a type of accommodation but also become a "bridge" bringing tourists closer to local life. However, the rapid development of this type of accommodation is also raising many related issues. Therefore, preserving identity, improving quality, and building a systematic development plan are considered key factors in helping homestays in Ha Tinh assert their position.

The current tourism trend is shifting from sightseeing to experiential travel, with tourists increasingly interested in elements connected to local life and culture. This is a favorable condition for development. However, for sustainability, homestay businesses need to improve service quality, ensure safety and hygiene, and diversify their products, avoiding fragmented and spontaneous development.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Duc, Vice President of the Ha Tinh Tourism Association, commented.
