Youth together, building a new homeland
Four colors of youth
In addition to the exam support program, the volunteer summer also features four major campaigns including the Pink Holiday Campaign, the Green March Campaign, the Summer Volunteer Youth Campaign and the Red Flamboyant Campaign. “The Pink Holiday Campaign is for union members and young people who are cadres, civil servants and public employees, focusing on activities to care for social security, build and repair charity houses, bridges and roads, concretize rural traffic, transfer science and technology and support to improve people's lives. The Green March Campaign gathers young people in the armed forces to contribute to protecting security and order, supporting natural disaster prevention and control, and participating in building new rural areas. The Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign with the core force of university and college students brings youth to remote areas, supports teaching, and supplements information technology and foreign language knowledge for children... The Red Flamboyant Campaign is for high school students, creating an environment to practice life skills, a sense of dedication, and enhance social responsibility", shared Deputy Secretary of An Giang Provincial Youth Union Du Pham Huu Khuyen.
The year 2025 marks a significant event with the merger of the two old provinces of An Giang and Kien Giang , leading to a series of changes in administration, territory and mass organizations. The Standing Committees of the Provincial Youth Unions of the two provinces proactively developed and implemented flexible operational plans to ensure that all campaigns take place smoothly and without interruption.
The 2025 Summer Volunteer Program is divided into two phases. Phase one, from early June to before July 1, activities take place in smooth continuity between the old district, town, and city unions. A large number of union members and young people promote the spirit of volunteering, completing their tasks in their localities until the handover date. Phase two, from July 1, the new provincial union apparatus and 102 communes, wards, and special zones are stabilized and put into operation. 102 union secretaries in the new communes, wards, and special zones are assigned the task of proactively organizing and gathering union members and young people from schools, armed forces, and residents to carry out volunteer activities from the beginning of July.
Spread the spirit of initiative and creativity
The most outstanding feature of this year’s volunteer summer is the smooth and harmonious coordination between all levels and forces. Despite changes in administrative boundaries and organization, the direction and implementation work was carried out effectively, and the goals and targets set by superiors were basically achieved thanks to the initiative, creativity and dynamism of each unit.
One of the bright spots is the establishment of “digital literacy” groups, supporting people to access online public administrative procedures. Youth volunteer teams go to households that cannot travel to guide them in registering for public services and filling out information. Green Summer student volunteer teams continue to bring knowledge, skills, and love to disadvantaged areas, tutoring, sharing knowledge of information technology, foreign languages, and caring for lonely elderly people and families with meritorious services.
Secretary of the Youth Union of An Giang University ( Ho Chi Minh City National University) Tran Trung Quoc shared: “Every year, in the summer, the school's Green Summer teams are bustling to bring youth and enthusiasm to remote communes. This year, because the localities are busy with the merger, the school's Green Summer activities have slowed down a bit. However, 30 members of the volunteer student team are always ready to set off to bring love everywhere, "light up" the country roads and provide more knowledge to children in difficult circumstances."
“Each summer volunteer campaign leaves its mark with specific, practical works and projects. Every year, union members and young people support localities in building 2-3 rural traffic bridges, costing 300-400 million VND/bridge, and solid concrete rural roads. The total value of resources mobilized for each key area after the summer volunteer season is from 1.5-2 billion VND. In the whole province alone, the annual benefit from the campaign is estimated at 5-7 billion VND, making an important contribution to socio-economic development and community security,” said Mr. Huu Khuyen.
The Standing Committee of An Giang Provincial Youth Union set out a number of basic targets for the 2025 Summer Volunteer Campaign, including organizing 50,000 youth union members to participate in volunteer activities implemented by the Youth Union and Association; supporting the elimination of at least 15 temporary and dilapidated houses for meritorious people, the poor under the national target program and people in difficult circumstances; planting 50,000 trees; repairing 20km and building 5km of rural roads; supporting the implementation and realization of 200 ideas and initiatives of youth union members... |
