Lang Co Bay, stretching 42.5 km, is located more than 60 km from Hue city and 20 km from Da Nang. It's a nearly pristine bay at the foot of Hai Van Pass, boasting a flat, smooth beach, vast expanse of crystal-clear blue water, and a rich and diverse ecosystem. In the distance, you can see expansive tropical forests on undulating mountain ranges. Nestled between the mountains and the sea is the vast and captivating Lap An Lagoon. This is one of the famous scenic spots and tourist destinations of Thua Thien Hue province, considered a paradise by King Khai Dinh.
Some believe the place name "Lăng Cô" is a mispronunciation by the French of "An Cư," a fishing village south of the lagoon. Others suggest that Lăng Cô used to have many flocks of storks, hence it was called "Stork Village," which was later mispronounced as Lăng Cô by the locals.
Whether called Lang Co Beach or Lang Co Bay, each has its own unique charm, with the bay itself nestled within the sea. Nestled between branches of the Truong Son mountain range extending into the ocean, bordered by Hai Van Pass on one side and Phu Gia Pass on the other, Lang Co appears as a stunning, sprawling stretch of sand dunes. In late autumn, Lang Co beach is shrouded in a mystical mist. In the evenings, flocks of white egrets fly across the sky to the Lap An lagoon to rest.
Lang Co Beach has long been a famous beach, a convergence of all the best things. Its coastline stretches nearly 10km, making visitors feel small in comparison, with the sea road extending far into the horizon.
Lang Co is not just about the sea; it's a blend of tropical forests, winding mountain passes, towering rocky mountains, and exciting adventures exploring both the jungle and the sea.
In 2009, Lang Co Bay was voted "Lang Co - The Most Beautiful Bay in the World " by the Worldbays Club.
