Leaders of many countries have congratulated former US President Donald Trump after Fox News projected that Trump would win the 2024 US presidential election.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Mr. Trump, emphasizing on X: "I appreciate President Trump's commitment to the ' peace through strength' approach to global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring a just peace in Ukraine closer."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Mr. Trump on his historic return to the White House, according to Reuters.

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer congratulated Donald Trump after Fox News projected the former US president would win against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential election.
In addition, on social network X, French President Emmanuel Macron wrote: "Congratulations to President Donald Trump. Be ready to cooperate as we have done for the past 4 years. With your trust and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity."
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also wrote on X: "I have just congratulated Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States. His leadership will once again be pivotal to maintaining the strength of our Alliance. I look forward to working with him again to promote peace through strength across NATO."

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu wrote on X: "Romania is ready to cooperate to strengthen our (Romania-US) Strategic Partnership. Under your new leadership, we hope for peace and prosperity for all our citizens!"
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he looked forward to continuing his partnership with Mr Trump. "Let us work together for the betterment of our people and promote global peace, stability and prosperity," Mr Modi wrote on X.

Sharing on X on November 6, Polish President Andrzej Duda congratulated former US President Donald Trump. "Congratulations, Mr. President Donald Trump. You did it," Mr. Duda shared.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also congratulated Mr Trump after the former president declared victory in the US presidential election. Ms Meloni said the event would strengthen the relationship between Italy and the US. In a post on X, Ms Meloni sent her "sincere congratulations" to Mr Trump, stressing that Italy and the US have an "unshakable alliance". "It is a strategic relationship that I am sure we will further strengthen," she said.

"I look forward to working with you in the years ahead," British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on X, congratulating Mr. Trump. "I know that the special relationship between the UK and the US will continue to thrive on both sides of the Atlantic for many years to come," Starmer said.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof also sent congratulations to Mr. Trump.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he was not aware of any plans by Russian President Vladimir Putin to congratulate Mr Trump on his election victory, but stressed that people should not forget that the US is a country that is not friendly to Russia, according to Reuters.
On the same day, Tasnim news agency quoted an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman as emphasizing: "The US election is really none of our business. Our policies are stable and do not change based on individuals. We have made the necessary predictions in advance and there will be no change in people's livelihoods."
Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said today that China "will continue to approach and handle China-US relations based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation," according to AFP.
