This is one of the meaningful activities launched by the national milk brand to pay tribute to the previous generation, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025). After a month of launching, the program has attracted more than 100 paintings sent by children of Vinamilk employees from all over the country and children who benefit from the Vietnam Grow Up Milk Fund program.
Strokes of Gratitude
The painting Sergeant Tuong received depicts a wounded soldier with a prosthetic leg and a head wound standing and painting. In the painting is the image of a smiling student in the arms of his teacher, with a flock of doves flying around - a symbol of the desire for peace .
The sergeant smiled and said he saw himself in it. Because he himself was a 1/4 severely wounded soldier, with a disability rate of up to 81%. In addition to a prosthetic leg, his right arm was shorter than his left due to the contracture of the wound, and many pieces of shrapnel were still embedded deep in his head and spine.
"Each wounded soldier here is a 'rice-powered weather station'. It may not be accurate in terms of intensity, but we know in advance whether it will rain or be sunny tomorrow. Because every time the weather changes, we feel pain and cannot sleep - especially those with amputated legs like me or those with traumatic brain injuries," said Mr. Tuong.

However, he still considers himself the healthiest person in the center. Because there are 45 other special-class wounded and sick soldiers here, with disability rates ranging from 81% to nearly 100%. Returning from the battlefield of the resistance against the US and protecting the southwestern border, they carry with them the harsh consequences of war. Under their uniforms are bodies marked by bombs and bullets or prosthetic arms and legs.
"We may have suffered physical hardships, but we have been given the most emotional support. When the children of Vinamilk employees came to visit us today, I was as happy as if my own children had come home after a long time," he said.

Specialist Doctor I Tong Duc Binh - Director of the Center - likened the paintings brought by Vinamilk this time to "hugs connecting the past and the future". He believes that this is a very practical way to educate the younger generation about gratitude to those who sacrificed their youth and part of their bodies to gain independence for the nation.
"Every time we come, Vinamilk leaves a special impression on the elderly. In addition to nutritional products for physical health care, the paintings drawn by Vinamilk's second and third generation children are valuable spiritual medicine, giving them strength in the fight against pain and the effort to live happily. To us, the elderly are not only soldiers returning from the old battlefield, but also living witnesses to the sacrifices of previous generations," Mr. Binh shared.
Grateful for the past - looking to the future
Not only at Long Dat Center, more than 100 lovely paintings - drawn with innocent but sincere strokes - from all over the country were sent to 3 war invalids nursing centers in Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City. Each painting is a thank you, a dream of peace, a connection between today's generation and those who sacrificed their youth for the country.

At Nho Quan War Invalids Nursing Center (Ninh Binh), Mr. Pham Tuyen - Director of Vinamilk Hanoi Branch - represented and presented meaningful paintings to 143 wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and relatives of meritorious people who are being treated here. He emotionally shared: "We believe that each painting that the children draw is not only a thank you to those who went before, but also a way to quietly sow the seeds of gratitude in the hearts of children."
In addition to the painting activity, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Vinamilk also donated more than 18,000 nutritional products to contribute to the health care of former soldiers and families of those who contributed to the revolution.

In Vinh Long alone, Vinamilk accompanied the "Gratitude to those who contributed to the revolution" market held in Dong Khoi commune. With the form of a zero-dong market, the enterprise gave away thousands of nutritional gifts to about 1,700 people attending the program.
Not only on July 27, Vinamilk has carried out activities to honor the previous generations throughout nearly half a century of operation. Notably, the activity of caring for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers has been maintained for the past 30 years or caring for the families of employees who are children of martyrs. Most recently, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, Vinamilk also visited and presented 12,000 nutritional products to more than 650 wounded and sick soldiers being cared for at nursing centers in Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Hanoi and accompanied the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification organized by the Standing Committee of the Resistance Tradition Liaison Committee of the Central Office of the Southern Region in Tay Ninh.
