Leaders of the Department of Education and Training of the three provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, and Dak Nong met to discuss preparations for the merger.

Mr. Pham Kim Quang - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province spoke at the meeting.

The working session took place in the context of implementing the policy of merging provincial-level administrative units according to Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the 13th Party Central Committee and to implement Document No. 3751/UBND-TKCT of the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee on developing a project to rearrange provincial-level administrative units. Accordingly, the 3 Departments of Education and Training will closely coordinate to complete the merger project, expected to be submitted to the Department of Home Affairs for appraisal before April 22, 2025.

Attending the meeting were Mr. Pham Kim Quang - Director of Lam Dong Department of Education and Training; Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien - Director of Binh Thuan Department of Education and Training; Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - Director of Dak Nong Department of Education and Training.

At the meeting, the leaders of the three departments focused on discussing the advantages and challenges in the process of preparing for the merger. In particular, the parties listened to and shared the thoughts and aspirations of the civil servants and public employees ofthe education sector in the three provinces. At the same time, the meeting also agreed on the key contents that need to be implemented to ensure that the merger project is completed on schedule.

According to Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW, the three provinces of Binh Thuan, Dak Nong and Lam Dong will be merged into a new provincial-level administrative unit, called Lam Dong province, and the administrative-political center will be located in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province today.

Information on the current organizational structure and personnel of the 3 Departments of Education and Training shows the large scale of education management after the merger. Specifically, currently, Lam Dong Department of Education and Training has 1 Director, 3 Deputy Directors, 6 specialized departments, 55 civil servant positions (currently 48), 3,386 employees. Binh Thuan Department of Education and Training has 1 Director, 3 Deputy Directors, 5 specialized departments, 42 civil servant positions (currently 36), 2,357 employees. Dak Nong Department of Education and Training has 1 Director, 3 Deputy Directors, 6 specialized departments, 48 civil servant positions (currently 47), 1,623 employees.

Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province spoke at the meeting.

It is expected that the Department of Education and Training of Lam Dong province (new) will manage 119 public service units, including 114 high schools, 2 centers to support the development of inclusive education, 1 charity school and 2 provincial continuing education centers. District-level vocational education and continuing education centers will have their own transfer projects according to regulations.

This meeting is considered an important preparation step, demonstrating the determination of the leaders of the three provinces in implementing the major policy of the Party and State on restructuring the administrative apparatus and education system at the provincial level, towards the goal of streamlining, efficiency and suitability with the development practices of the region.
