Can Tho City leaders extend congratulations on the Buddha's Birthday celebration.

(CTO) - On the morning of May 29th, Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, along with representatives from city departments, agencies, and Ninh Kieu ward, visited and offered congratulations on the occasion of the 2026 Buddha's Birthday Celebration at the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Can Tho City.

Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City , extended her congratulations to the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Can Tho City on the occasion of the Buddha's Birthday.

Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao acknowledged the contributions of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of the city, the venerable monks and nuns, and Buddhist followers to the cause of building and developing the homeland. With the spirit of "closely accompanying the nation," they have actively mobilized followers to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws; effectively participated in patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Fatherland Front; joined hands in caring for social welfare, supporting the poor and those in difficult circumstances, building solidarity houses, charitable kitchens, providing free medical examinations and medicine, supporting students to overcome difficulties and excel in their studies… contributing to spreading the spirit of compassion and kindness in the community. Particularly during a period when the city is focusing on socio -economic development, building a civilized urban environment, digital transformation, environmental protection, maintaining national defense and security, and strengthening national unity, the accompanying role of religious organizations, including Buddhism, is of paramount importance.

Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, congratulated and presented gifts to the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Can Tho City.

On behalf of the city's leadership, the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City expressed his wish that the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Can Tho City and the esteemed monks and nuns would continue to uphold the tradition of unity and harmony; pay attention to training and nurturing the next generation of monks and nuns; encourage Buddhist followers to live "a good life and a beautiful faith," actively participate in patriotic emulation movements and practical, sustainable social charity activities; and continue to work alongside the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front, and political and social organizations in building Can Tho City into an increasingly developed, civilized, modern, and compassionate city.

City leaders always pay attention to and create favorable conditions for religious organizations to operate in accordance with the law and the Church Charter; meeting the legitimate religious needs of the people; and continuing to strengthen national unity and religious solidarity in the new situation. Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao wished all venerable monks, religious dignitaries, officials, nuns, and all Buddhist followers boundless peace and success in their Buddhist endeavors.

Besides providing information about the organization of the Vesak Celebration, the first Buddha's Birthday Celebration in Can Tho City after the merger in 2026, Venerable Thich Dao Nhu, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Can Tho City, also acknowledged the kind wishes from the city's leaders on the occasion of Buddha's Birthday. He hoped that these wishes would be reflected in the practical lives of monks, nuns, and Buddhists in Can Tho, embodying the spirit of unity, harmony, tolerance, compassion, and peace for all sentient beings.
