The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which was activated on July 6, is deploying resources to send first responders to Texas after President Donald Trump declared a major disaster.
In a statement on the social network Truth Social, Mr. Trump said: “I have just signed a major disaster declaration for Kerr County, Texas, to ensure our brave first responders immediately have the resources they need.”
“The Trump Administration continues to work closely with state and local leaders. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was on the scene yesterday, along with Governor Greg Abbott, who is working to support the people of his great state. The U.S. Coast Guard, along with state rescuers, have saved more than 850 lives,” he added.
Speaking about the flood, Mr. Trump described: "These families are suffering an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost and many still missing."
