Lao Cai completes work to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses

According to the report at the conference, implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio- political organizations in Lao Cai province have synchronously implemented many solutions to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The implementation process has recorded many good models and creative ways of doing things, contributing significantly to the overall results of the locality.

Localities have focused on mobilizing the cooperation and contributions of the business community, organizations, individuals, armed forces, union members, youth, and people to participate in the spirit of "whoever has something to contribute, whoever has merits to contribute, whoever has property to contribute, whoever has a lot to contribute a lot, whoever has a little to contribute a little", creating a widespread spread for the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, so that no one is left behind.

After the implementation process with a high sense of responsibility, by the end of May 2025, Lao Cai province had implemented 10,707/10,707 houses, reaching 100% of the set plan.

The total cost of the program is 1,087,003 million VND to support the construction and repair of 10,707 houses to support housing for people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs, poor households, near-poor households, and housing support under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction and the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas in the province.

Of which, the central budget is 208,750 million VND; local budget is 179,023 million VND; household contributions are about 498,430 million VND; and social mobilization is about 201,100 million VND.

With the active participation of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, localities have mobilized contributions of nearly 20,000 working days. This is a contribution of great community significance, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love, village love, and neighborhood love, contributing to the success of the program in the locality.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lao Cai province affirmed: The movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" has a particularly important meaning, demonstrating the responsibility and morality of "Repaying gratitude" and "Love others as you love yourself", contributing to bringing warm homes of love to people with revolutionary contributions, relatives of martyrs; poor households, near-poor households, ensuring good social security work; contributing to the increasingly strong development of the socio-economic foundation of Lao Cai province.

To promote the achieved results and perform well a number of tasks in the coming time, comrade Trinh Xuan Truong requested that Party committees at all levels, authorities, Fatherland Front, and organizations in the province perform well a number of contents:

Continue to promote propaganda, dissemination, and education to organizations, individuals, businesses, philanthropists, and people of all walks of life about the content, purpose, meaning, and humanity, creating a widespread influence to mobilize all resources from society, along with State resources to support housing construction for households in the emulation movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" as well as movements and campaigns launched by the Central Government.

For households that have been supported to remove temporary and dilapidated houses, local authorities need to organize specialized activities in villages, hamlets, and residential groups to raise awareness, arouse the will to be self-reliant, avoid the mentality of waiting and relying on others; promptly encourage and guide households to stabilize their lives, protect and use housing effectively and long-term.

Departments, branches and sectors, according to their functions and tasks, research and advise competent authorities to issue support policies to help people escape poverty sustainably.

Comrade Trinh Xuan Truong assigned the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment to continue coordinating with local authorities to complete the issuance of Land Use Right Certificates to households in July 2025.

On this occasion, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 17 collectives and 13 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Lao Cai province".
