In the province recently, there have been many freelance workers, willing to quit their jobs at enterprises to proactively find jobs that suit their interests, abilities and voluntarily participate in social insurance. This requires many enterprises to flexibly change their policies towards employees if they want to retain good employees.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Vu and his wife in Cam Lo district are freelance workers, working well in many fields of construction, industrial electricity, and agriculture .
A few years ago, they quit working as workers for a company and decided not to "join" any other company. They chose to work freelance to have multiple sources of income and be proactive with their time.
Since the beginning of this year, Mr. Vu has been undertaking electrical construction projects for a company in Gio Linh district; when the time is right, he has also undertaken the construction of 3 houses for 3 families in Thanh An commune, Cam Lo district. His wife is talented, so she has also proactively chosen a suitable job in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry.
They said that when they first got married, they decided to work freelance to be proactive with their time and have a choice of income.
However, in the first few years, your skills were not high, and there was not much work to do. It was not until you had the skills and reputation that work came to you; many businesses wanted to sign a work contract, but you still preferred to work freelance.
Faced with changes in the labor market, freelance work, although challenging, also brings many opportunities and income to young people. In the case of Mr. Nguyen Duc Tu in Dong Ha City, he is a freelance accountant, undertaking work related to finance, statistics, and reporting financial data for many customers.
Mr. Tu said that as a freelance accountant, he often works with a group of accountants, travels to many places and works flexibly at any time and location when requested by customers. Currently in Dong Ha City, many businesses have a need to hire freelance accountants.
Therefore, not only Mr. Tu but also many people after graduating from university major in accounting choose to be a freelance accountant to be proactive in their work as well as have a good income.
Many young people do freelance work with very high income, especially those who are capable, it is very convenient to create jobs for themselves. Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh in Gio Linh has skills in the field of graphic design.
The employer paid him a salary quite high compared to the average in Quang Tri . A year ago, he quit his job to start his own business. He said that his previous labor contract called for working 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, but he never left the office before 8 p.m. even though work started at 8 a.m.
At night, he continues to handle feedback from partners, and he can't escape work on weekends. Housework and childcare are all taken care of by his wife and parents.
With good skills, formal education from university, and experience working in foreign companies, Mr. Minh decided to work freelance to be proactive with his time for himself and his family. Appreciating his skills, the old company still invited him to continue working, but not working according to office hours, but according to work packages, with income calculated according to each work package.
Mr. Minh shared that the labor market as well as the needs of the current society have changed, not requiring one to stick with one workplace for a long time, but needing the ability to maintain stability, adapt to fluctuations, through participating in many different types of work and value-creating activities, having many diverse sources of income, and harmonizing life between family and work. Mr. Minh not only found a job in Quang Tri province but also found good jobs and job packages in Quang Binh and Ha Tinh .
Freelance work, especially after COVID-19, has become a trend and is growing quite strongly. In a recent survey by authorities in Vietnam, 87% of candidates asked wanted a job that was not full-time. Among them, the priority of workers was freelance work at 36.5%, project work at 32.1%, part-time work at 23.7%, and contract work at 6.9%.
Faced with this situation, businesses that want to attract and retain skilled workers are forced to change their management methods to meet the demands of their employees. A recent survey of a number of job supply and referral units in the province shows that among the six desired welfare needs of workers, time benefits are ranked first.
In fact, many manufacturing companies still attract many talented people because they create flexibility in working hours. You can still work 8 hours a day but flexibly choose the time to come to the company.
Changes in the labor market require businesses to constantly adapt and seek new approaches to attract and retain skilled workers, while building a working environment that supports long-term employee development.
