Unique Laptop from Lenovo

Lenovo's new laptop concept has a vertically rotating screen, suitable for document editing and short content consumption.

At the IFA 2025 electronics show, Lenovo demonstrated a prototype laptop with a rotating screen. Called the ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept, the product has a 14-inch screen in normal mode. When the right corner is pushed up, the screen will rotate 90 degrees into portrait mode, suitable for writing text, programming or viewing vertical content.

This is not the first time Lenovo has shown off a unique laptop. The company has brought devices with OLED screens that roll, flip, or rotate forward. According to The Verge , this prototype has a simpler but more practical design, making it easier to commercialize on the market.

According to Digital Trends , users who are constantly on the go can take advantage of the ThinkBook VertiFlex's portrait mode to read documents, long spreadsheets, or browse social media. Compared to the Yoga Book 9i with its two flip screens, the idea is simple but still useful.

The ThinkBook VertiFlex's screen orientation is quite comfortable. When placed vertically, the remaining frame is just enough to prop up a smartphone, which can be combined with Lenovo's Smart Connect app to share files or control the phone with a mouse.

Lenovo didn’t share much about the ThinkBook VertiFlex’s specs. The prototype on display at the show had two Thunderbolt-standard USB-C ports, one USB-A port, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The design of the device is not as sophisticated as other prototypes, although it is not too thin and light with a thickness of 17.9 mm and a weight of 1.39 kg.

For comparison, the product is slightly thinner, about 300g lighter than the ThinkBook Plus with a rollable screen, although it is still thicker and heavier than conventional laptops like the ThinkPad X9.

Lenovo has not revealed the price of the ThinkBook VertiFlex. However, with its simple structure, the device is likely to be cheaper than the ThinkPad Plus Gen 6 foldable screen line ( $ 3,500 ). The company representative said that this idea can be adjusted for many different screen sizes.
