U22 Thailand and U22 Indonesia "fight" at SEA Games 32
On May 23, the famous Thai sports website Siam Sports reported that the FAT decided to ban 5 members of the Thai U22 team from playing for participating in a brawl with the Indonesian U22 team in the men's football final of the 32nd SEA Games.
The article asserts that the ugly "melee" scene at the Olympic Stadium (Phnom Penh - Cambodia) on May 16 has angered football fans around the world and affected the image of football in the land of golden temples.
FAT has established an Investigation Committee headed by Lieutenant General Amnuay Nimmano, collecting full evidence and data about the members of U22 Thailand involved in this clash.
After that, FAT imposed a ban on 5 members of the team, including 3 coaches and 2 players - those who directly participated in the fight, scuffle with the opposing team or failed to closely monitor and promptly prevent the players' behavior and actions.
Siam Sports reported that FAT imposed a penalty on the Thai U22 team.
Specifically, goalkeeper coach Prasadchok Chokmoh and two team leaders, Mr. Mayed Madad and Mr. Patrawut Wongsripuek, will be banned from participating in the Thai national team for 1 year. Goalkeeper Sophonwit Rakyath and player Teerapak Pruengna will be banned from participating in the Thai national team for 6 months.
Sophonwit is the number 1 goalkeeper of U22 Thailand but he constantly collided with Indonesian players and received a red card after attacking defender Komang. Meanwhile, Teerapak could not control his emotions and directly participated in the "melee" in the final match of SEA Games 32.

The author on Siam Sports added: "The two young players have admitted their wrongdoings and made public apologies. They are only 21 and 22 years old, so they have a legitimate reason to receive sympathy, but they still have to face punishment according to the Thai Football Federation's regulations on professional player ethics."
Previously, U22 Thailand lost 2-5 to U22 Indonesia in the 120-minute SEA Games 32 gold medal match. The match was so dramatic and fierce that the Omani referee had to issue 7 red cards and a series of yellow cards to members and players of both sides.
After the brawl in the final match, the head of the Thai U22 delegation, Mr. Yuttana Yimkarun (vice president of FAT), also decided to resign and take responsibility for not being able to control the behavior of the players and assistant coaches.
