September Companion Festival in Vietnam, first time opening abroad

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups of Korea organized the first “September Companion Festival” in Vietnam from August 28 to September 3.

The September Companion Festival in Vietnam takes place from August 28 to September 3.

The opening ceremony of “Korean Shopping Festival” opens the series of programs within the framework of this Festival, taking place at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 29, at L7 West Lake Hotel, Hanoi , Vietnam.

The event was held with the aim of opening a new chapter in bringing products of Korean small and medium enterprises to overseas markets.

Vietnam is South Korea's third largest trading partner, with trade turnover between the two countries expected to exceed US$79.4 billion by 2023. Vietnam is also an active investment destination for small and medium-sized Korean companies.

Due to the strong demand for Korean products, especially beauty products, food... Vietnam is a country with great potential to expand the market and is also very suitable as a starting point in the journey to promote activities to introduce excellent products to all over the world .

This festival in Vietnam includes the following activities: The opening ceremony of the Korean Shopping Festival (10:00 on August 29) is the program that kicks off the series of activities of the "September 2024 Companion Festival" (August 28 - September 28); Export consulting and connection program for small and medium-sized enterprises (co-organized with Lotte (from 11:00 - 18:00 on August 29); Opening of pop-up stores for small businesses (August 28 - September 3 at Lotte Mall); Opening of booths dedicated to small businesses.

The opening ceremony took place at 10:00 a.m. on August 29 (Thursday) at L7 West Lake Hotel in Hanoi, with the participation of 50 people including business owners operating in Vietnam, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Vietnam Hong Sun, Counselor, Consul General of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam Chang Ho Seung, CEO of Lotte Mart Kang Sung Hyun...

At the opening ceremony, a special video about the meaning of the Festival was introduced along with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony between the leaders of the two countries, praying for friendship, cooperation and development between Vietnam and Korea.

Minister Oh Young Joo said in his opening speech: “The first festival to be held in Vietnam is of great significance in the context of Vietnam being an important economic partner of Korea.

I really hope that through this event, excellent Korean products can be promoted starting from Vietnam and reaching out to ASEAN and the whole world, contributing to the continuous economic development of both countries.”

Export consulting program, trade connection and pop-up store operation to introduce new Korean products to Vietnam

The export consultation and trade connection program, coordinated by the Korean Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Startups and Lotte Group, was held from 11:00-18:00 on Thursday, August 29 at L7 West Lake Hotel, Hanoi.

As an event to realize the "Cooperation Agreement to Support Global Investment Activities of SMEs" signed between the Ministry of SMEs and Startups of Korea and Lotte Group's subsidiary on July 10, the event attracted 40 companies to participate in the Festival and 40 companies with stores at Lotte.

Through 1:1 consulting with leading import and distribution companies in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia... small and medium enterprises with determination and enthusiasm to expand from the domestic market to foreign markets will have the opportunity to introduce products and expand distribution channels.

Minister Oh Young Joo looked at products from Korean food and beauty companies participating in the export consultation and trade matchmaking program and said, “SMEs play a very important role in Korea’s exports. We will make more efforts to ensure that more excellent Korean products will be exported.”

In addition, for 7 days, from Wednesday (August 28) to Tuesday (September 3), a pop-up store will be operated at the first floor aquarium of Lotte Mall, Hanoi - the main venue of the event. Here, customers can directly experience and shop for products of small and medium-sized enterprises participating in the Festival.

Products are sold using QR codes on online shopping platforms operating in Vietnam such as Shopee and GMarket Global. Gift-giving events imbued with Korean traditions are also held.

A booth to experience digital nail art and a makeup show by an invited makeup artist from Korea were also held for Vietnamese customers interested in K-beauty.

In addition, at Lotte Mart on the B1 floor of Lotte Mall, an exhibition promoting products of small and medium-sized enterprises selected by Lotte is also held. Along with that, experience spaces to help customers preserve memories such as photo zones, K-food tasting areas, beauty product experience areas... are also operated.

Minister Oh Young Joo and CEO Kang Sung Hyun visited Lotte Mart's pop-up stores and product promotion exhibitions and actively participated in promotional activities to ensure that Korean products achieve good results in the Vietnamese market.

Opening of a store specializing in selling products of small businesses (14:00-14:30)

At 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, the opening ceremony of DooK'N DooK'N store was held at Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, Hanoi, continuing the vibrant atmosphere of the Companion Festival.

DooK'N DooK'N is a direct sales store dedicated to small businesses, opened in Vietnam to support the overseas operations of outstanding domestic small businesses.

To attract female customers aged 20-30, considered the main consumer group in Vietnam, the store has a space to experience Korean beauty products and is designed to help customers feel like they are traveling to Korea.

At the opening ceremony, Minister Oh Young Joo, Chairman of the Small Business Market Development Fund Park Seong Hyo and Hanjin Director Cho Hyun Min attended the official launch and introduced products at the store.

Minister Oh Young Joo said, “As part of the implementation of the ‘Plan to Enhance the Global Competitiveness of K-beauty SMEs’ ​​announced last July, the opening of this store is even more meaningful as it is the first store opened overseas to sell beauty and health care products directly produced by small businesses. I expect DooK’N DooK’N to become a springboard for excellent, competitive small businesses to advance overseas.”
