Khau Bua Sa Festival, an ancient cultural tradition of the Thai people.

Việt NamViệt Nam05/09/2024

To express gratitude to their parents, from the 15th day of the 7th lunar month to the 8th lunar month each year, Thai families in Nghe An province hold a ceremony called Khau Bua Sa, which can be roughly translated as the Fruit Festival. The Khau Bua Sa ceremony is an occasion for family and siblings to reunite, for children and grandchildren living far away to remember and show filial piety to their grandparents and parents, and also an opportunity for close friends and neighbors to bond and unite, because according to Thai beliefs, the more people participate, the more blessings and good fortune it brings.

Join Vietnam.vn in learning about this festival through the video "Khau Bua Sa Festival: Preserving the Ancient Culture of the Thai People" by author Ho Ngan Hanh. This video was filmed by the author during a Khau Bua Sa ceremony in Nghe An. For the Thai people, this is not only a religious ritual, but also a connection between the present world and the spiritual world, where ancestors silently watch over and protect their descendants. The offerings are meticulously prepared, from fragrant sticky rice, locally grown agricultural products such as fruits and bamboo shoots, to plump pigs and chickens – all representing aspirations for abundance, peace, and prosperity. This video was submitted by the author to the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications .
