The 2nd Krong Pac Durian Festival in 2024 in Dak Lak, people can freely admire and eat durian

On August 22, the People's Committee of Krong Pac district ( Dak Lak ) held a press conference to inform about the activities of the 2nd Krong Pac Durian Festival in 2024.

With the theme "Krong Pac durian - Development and integration", the festival aims to promote and introduce local durian specialties, high-quality fruits, agricultural products, OCOP products, potential specialties and strengths of the locality.

The People's Committee of Krong Pac district (Dak Lak) held a press conference to inform about the 2nd Durian Festival in 2024.

Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Trinh, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Krong Pac District (Dak Lak), said that Krong Pac District wishes to convey the message of building a green, sustainable and safe agricultural ecosystem, bringing high economic value, and at the same time bringing the Krong Pac durian brand to the world.

Through the festival, we will continue to honor durian growers and promote the role of farmers in changing agricultural production thinking. This is also an opportunity to connect supply and demand, exchange information between farmers, traders, businesses, scientists and managers; stimulate tourism, especially eco-tourism and experience.

In particular, during the festival from August 31 to September 2, travel agencies in Dak Lak province have developed sightseeing and experience tours that are suitable and flexible in time, creating conditions for tourists to explore unique and attractive activities in the place considered the "capital" of durian in Dak Lak.

According to the festival organizing committee, this year's Krong Pac Durian Festival will be held on a grand scale with a series of 12 main attractive activities, such as: Competition for good durian farmers (Beautiful durian garden, Durian Queen, Golden hand competition in durian knocking and durian splitting village); Fair to introduce OCOP products and potential local agriculture (250 booths introducing typical products).

Street festival (the event of establishing a 120m long dragon in the shape of a durian, the longest dragon in Vietnam, to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Dak Lak province; a welcoming parade); DJ night and light dance for art exchange between clubs and art groups; Flag-raising ceremony, Ao Dai and ethnic costumes; Artistic water music performance; Experience enjoying durian in the garden and visiting ancient durian trees.

Leaders of Dak Lak Department of Agriculture and Rural Development informed about issues of press interest related to the durian festival.

The highlight of the event will be the Workshop on Building and Developing a Sustainable Durian Ecosystem. Through this, the Organizing Committee will seek solutions to develop growing areas, improve durian quality, promote potential strengths, investment opportunities in production, preliminary processing, processing and consumption of agricultural products in the international market.

Connecting cooperatives and businesses; expanding and diversifying the durian market, aiming to gradually build tourism products, develop sightseeing destinations, enjoy fruit products, and durian specialties of Krong Pac.

Durian gardens in Krong Pak are produced and harvested according to VietGAP procedures.

At the press conference, the leaders of Krong Pac district listened to and recorded the comments of the press agencies and informed about issues of interest to the press related to the durian festival as well as the longer-term issue of improving the quality of durian, seizing opportunities to expand the consumption market, building a sustainable durian ecosystem...

Up to now, all preparations for the second Krong Pac Durian Festival in 2024 have been basically completed. The durian "capital" of Dak Lak is ready to welcome visitors to the festival on the occasion of September 2nd.

The 2nd Krong Pac Durian Festival in 2024 promises to bring visitors many unique and attractive activities.

Krong Pac district currently has about 7,200 hectares of durian, accounting for one-third of the durian area of the entire Dak Lak province. In the 2024 crop year, the total output is expected to reach over 92,000 tons.

Durian has become a staple crop, providing the main source of income for local people. Krong Pac is also the pioneer in registering a collective trademark for durian under the name "Krong Pac durian".

The official export of durian to the Chinese market in 2022 and the recently signed Protocol on the official export of frozen durian to China promise to open up great opportunities to increase the export value of Dak Lak durian.
