The project to upgrade the sidewalks and technical infrastructure of Truong Chinh Street and the sections connecting to Nguyen Tat Thanh Street is invested by the Buon Ma Thuot Construction Investment Project Management Board (under the Dak Lak Province Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board). The construction unit is Phu Tien Trung Joint Venture (including: Phu Quan Construction Company Limited, Dai Tien Company Limited, AHA Construction Company Limited, Dinh Trung Company Limited). The project started on June 9, 2025 and is scheduled for completion on March 6, 2026.
This project includes construction items such as: sidewalks; tree planting pits; drainage system, electricity, lighting, traffic safety, etc. The project's goal is to carry out urban beautification, creating a spacious appearance for Buon Ma Thuot ward. After completing the project, Truong Chinh street promises to have clean, airy sidewalks, contributing to improving the quality of urban aesthetics. However, the implementation process of the construction units has affected the urban aesthetics, causing traffic safety and the operations of some agencies and businesses located on this street.
On Truong Chinh Street, which is more than 2 km long, there are nearly 20 locations where the sidewalks have been dug up. The red soil is piled up and spread all over the sidewalks. Many locations are dug deeper than 2 meters, flooded, and have been roughly fenced with ropes, wooden stakes, and have no covers even though there are no workers. At some other locations, construction materials and machinery are gathered, blocking the sidewalks. Many locations where the excavation is more than 5 square meters wide are located in front of agencies and businesses, but there are no protective barriers. Some excavation sites are right next to other infrastructure works, encroaching on the green tree system and electric poles, posing a safety risk.
Mr. NTS (working in a company on Truong Chinh Street, Buon Ma Thuot Ward) said: The sidewalk on this street has been dug up by workers implementing an infrastructure upgrade project for many months now. However, instead of urgently constructing construction items to restore the site, the workers dug up but did not build but simply fenced it off, leaving the pit open, causing insecurity and affecting the company's daily life and business. When it rains, the red soil flows onto the street, destroying the urban beauty.
Meanwhile, Mr. NVT (security guard of a company located on Truong Chinh Street, Buon Ma Thuot Ward) shared that construction workers of the project to upgrade the sidewalk infrastructure of this street dug a deep hole right in front of his company. The red soil was piled up and covered with a tarp, making it look very shabby. The construction work was very slow and slow, causing the project items to be unfinished, affecting the aesthetics in front of the company.
Truong Chinh Street is an inner-city street of Buon Ma Thuot Ward with many government agencies and businesses located there. This is a street with high traffic density and many pedestrians on the sidewalks. However, because the sidewalk system has been dug into deep holes and red soil is everywhere, it causes difficulties for pedestrians. The sidewalk area in front of the agencies and businesses is occupied by the construction items of this project.
According to the representative of Buon Ma Thuot Construction Investment Project Management Board, during the construction process, the Project to Upgrade Sidewalks and Technical Infrastructure of Truong Chinh Street and the sections connecting to Nguyen Tat Thanh Street encountered many problems with the infrastructure of wastewater drainage system, rainwater drainage system, underground cable system, trees, etc. The construction unit encountered many difficulties in digging holes to carry out the construction items.
Therefore, the construction process is delayed, leading to problems in environmental sanitation, urban aesthetics, and construction safety. Many agencies and businesses have also expressed their opinions on this issue. In the coming time, the Board will continue to urge contractors to speed up construction progress, ensuring safety and urban aesthetics.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu, Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot Ward People's Committee, said that the locality has strongly directed the investor as well as the construction unit of the Project to Upgrade Sidewalks and Technical Infrastructure of Truong Chinh Street and the sections connecting to Nguyen Tat Thanh Street to ensure safety, environment, and urban beauty; especially before, during and after the 1st Dak Lak Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030. Regarding how to grant construction permits for this project, the locality will re-examine and inform later.
Previously, VNA published an article reflecting that the project to build an underground transmission line on the sidewalk of a road such as Phan Boi Chau, Le Thanh Tong (Buon Ma Thuot ward) has not complied with regulations on technical infrastructure, traffic safety, and urban aesthetics, affecting people's lives. People said that local authorities need to have solutions to closely inspect and supervise projects licensed to dig sidewalks for construction on inner-city roads.
