At the Dong Hoa Culture , Sports and Broadcasting Center (Dong Hoa Ward, Dak Lak), hundreds of cars are parked in the yard waiting for their turn to be repaired after being damaged by floodwater.

Covered in oil, Nguyen Thach Thuan (35 years old, Ward 1, old District 8, Ho Chi Minh City) said that his group of nearly 30 people traveled from Ho Chi Minh City to support free vehicle repairs for people.

"We just came here yesterday morning, the parking lot was so full of cars waiting to be repaired. But we fixed as many as people brought. We just did our best, because we stayed here so we ate, drank, and took a break and then came back to work," said Mr. Thuan.

Few people know that, in addition to seeing the tragic images of the flood-affected areas in the South Central region, the person who motivated Thuan and his teammates to do this was his father.

"My father is a veteran, he has many comrades here. When he heard that I would come here to repair cars for free, he was very happy, told me to help in any way I could," Thuan shared.

Trying to get the muddy motorbike to work, Mr. Thuan said it would take about 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the condition and extent of damage. In case there are not enough spare parts, or the motorbike is too badly damaged, it will be towed to the side and the people will be informed. The remaining motorbikes will be repaired quickly so that people can travel again.

"I have a car repair training center, so I have a large team of skilled workers. As soon as I mentioned the idea of supporting people in flooded areas, everyone responded. When I came here, I saw the devastated scene, but the people here are very simple. We repaired cars and talked with them, so we liked them even more," said Mr. Thuan.

Mr. Thuan and his teammates plan to repair cars for free for people in the old Phu Yen flood area for about a week. Currently, his team members have divided into several groups to support car repair in the old Tay Hoa district area.

At Hai Electrical Repair Shop (Lac Long Quan Street, Phu Yen Ward), dozens of refrigerators and washing machines were stacked from inside the shop to the sidewalk. Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (34 years old, shop owner) said that when the floodwaters receded, he immediately opened the shop to repair electrical appliances for free for people.

According to Mr. Hai, when a refrigerator gets wet, the circuit board is often damaged, and it takes about 15 to 30 minutes to repair, but it takes longer to repair a washing machine, from 2 to 3 hours.

"I fix it completely free of charge. If you live far away, we will drive to your house to fix it. For electrical appliances that are too badly damaged, we will notify the owner and only charge for the parts, not the labor. Many people want to send money, but we absolutely refuse to take it because they need it to take care of many expenses after the flood," said Mr. Hai.

"They came back to my hometown to do charity work and help my fellow countrymen. I was so touched that my family, which has a homestay, immediately made it a place for the groups to rest, as a thank you from my husband and I.

They do volunteer work all day, covered in mud and tired, and need a place to rest and shower. Our work is very simple, not a big deal," said Mr. Vu.

Mr. Vu added that the homestay had previously opened its doors to charity groups since storm No. 13. After the flood, this place was also a shelter for households whose houses were flooded. Currently, the homestay has welcomed dozens of charity groups, all rooms are full. With a capacity of up to 60 people, there were times when the facility had to arrange to increase to 70 people.

"Normally, groups stay for 1 night, some stay for 3 nights due to the nature of their work. We want the volunteer groups to have the best conditions to help our hometown Phu Yen people," said Mr. Vu.

Ms. Nguyet (Mr. Vu's wife) shared that the rooms are cleaned every day so that the groups who come to rest can feel most comfortable.

"We also posted information on Fanpage and groups so that many volunteer groups would know to stop and rest," said Ms. Nguyet.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen (35 years old, representative of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang volunteer group, former Quang Binh) said that the group had 14 people, went to the old Phu Yen to provide relief on the 25th and returned on the 26th.

"We have supported many communes such as Xuan Phuoc, Hoa Thinh... During this journey, we were very lucky to receive the warm welcome of Mr. Vu and his wife when they helped us with free accommodation. They also asked about and encouraged us," said Ms. Huyen.
