On January 6, Sop Cop district held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the district's founding (January 9, 2004 - January 9, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Trang Thi Xuan, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; Standing members of the People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front of the province; leaders of a number of departments, branches, and sectors of the province; representatives of districts and cities; leaders of Muong Et and Muong Son districts, Hua Phan province, Phon Thoong district, Luong Pha Bang province (Lao PDR); former leaders of the district through the periods.
Twenty years ago, on December 2, 2003, the Government issued Decree No. 148/2003/ND-CP on the establishment of Sop Cop district on the basis of separation from Song Ma district. On December 26, 2003, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued Decision No. 638-QD/TU on the establishment of the Sop Cop district Party Committee and appointed 25 comrades to participate in the Provisional Executive Committee.
On January 9, 2004, the Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to launch Sop Cop district. After 20 years of construction and development, the District Party Committee has concretized the viewpoints, resolutions, and policies of the Central Party Committee and Son La Provincial Party Committee, and proposed appropriate policies for each period. It has focused on allocating investment capital for infrastructure development to build Sop Cop commune to become a type V urban area. and develop according to the orientation of building Sop Cop town in the period of 2021-2025. Maintaining a good growth rate, the total budget revenue in the district in 2023 reached over 38 billion VND, equal to 104.7% compared to the estimate assigned by the province. The whole district has 2,218 hectares of fruit trees, the output of all kinds of fruit reached 3,000 tons; 3 products were recognized as OCOP products. The forest cover rate reached 47.4%.
Currently, from the district center to 8 communes, there are roads that can be used by cars all year round; the rate of households using electricity is 97.46%; the rate of households using safe electricity in 2023 is 89.35%. There are 2 communes that have met the National standards for new rural areas. (2015-2020 period). Social security policies and poverty reduction policies are implemented promptly, the annual poverty rate decreases by 4-5%.
The cultural and social fields have many positive changes. 12/21 schools have met national standards. 8/8 communes have met national standards on health; the rate of population participating in health insurance has reached 100% of the assigned plan. The friendly and cooperative relationship with Laos has been consolidated and developed, contributing to building a stable and comprehensively developed Vietnam - Laos border. Party building and consolidation of the political system have been given comprehensive attention, the whole district has 41 branches and grassroots party committees, with 4,014 party members...
Speaking to congratulate Sop Cop district, comrade Lo Minh Hung praised the achievements that the district has made. At the same time, he suggested that the district continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and unity within the Party, government, Fatherland Front and people; improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of party organizations, build a clean and strong political system. Focus on leading and directing economic development according to the potential, advantages and development orientation of the district. Well implement the planning and management of construction planning, urban planning, land use planning and plans, site clearance work to implement construction investment projects in the area. Ensure national defense and security, build a solid national defense posture associated with a solid people's security posture. On this occasion, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province presented Sop Cop district with a banner with the content: Solidarity, democracy, discipline, innovation, development. The Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 20 individuals; the District People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 20 individuals with outstanding achievements in building and developing Sop Cop district.
The Sop Cop District Party Committee also launched the history book of the Sop Cop District Party Committee for the period 2003-2023. This is a document to foster revolutionary spirit and love for the homeland and country for generations of cadres, party members, youth, students and people of all walks of life in the district.
