Flower care solution, change flower color as desired

The Vietnamese flower market is used to chrysanthemums that are only yellow or white, but thanks to a special solution, these flowers can turn pink, orange, purple... Even a flower can have 3-4 colors. This unique technology seems to be imported, but in fact, it was researched and mastered by a Vietnamese person. That is Mr. Le Trung Hieu (Hoc Mon, Ho Chi Minh City), founder of the Bambi Hana Project .

Using organic food coloring, Bambi Hana flower dye is both safe for users and creates flowers with beautiful colors that are no less than artificial flowers, but are biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

In addition to flower dye, another outstanding product line of Bambi Hana is long-lasting flower water. When using this substance, roses can maintain their beauty and freshness for 8 days, instead of 4-5 days as usual, even chrysanthemums from 7 days to 14-20 days, gladiolus from 4 days to 15 days...

Hundreds of test tubes were used, and so many flowers were bought that at times I ran out of money and had to collect vegetables and wild flowers for experiments. Without proper measurement methods and experimental equipment for chemistry and biology, it was even more difficult for us to start from a negative number. - Le Trung Hieu, founder of Bambi Hana

Mr. Le Trung Hieu revealed that the key to the product lies in the magnetic water containing copper ions, combined with glucose. Copper ions will purify the water and increase the flower's ability to absorb nutrients, while also having strong antibacterial properties, inactivating bacteria that cause decay. Meanwhile, glucose is a nutrient that provides nutrients to the flower branches, helping the flowers stay fresh longer.

Not only that, using copper ion solution helps flower shop owners reduce costs by 20 - 30%, reduce labor in changing water and cutting flower stems every day.

In fact, flower dyeing and flower keeping solutions are not new products in Vietnam. There are imported products on the market, but the prices are quite high. For example, flower care solutions from the US, Japan, the Netherlands... cost about 300,000 VND/liter. Meanwhile, Bambi Hana's flower care solution costs only 1,000 VND/10 ml package, which can be mixed with 1 liter of water. A 250 ml box that can be mixed with 25 liters of water costs 40,000 - 50,000 VND, enough for 50 vases of flowers.

With colored water, imported goods cost about 100,000 VND/liter, Bambi Hana's products cost half as much, but the quality is the same.

In October 2022, the Bambi Hana Project won First Prize in the Contest " Digital transformation in high-tech agricultural production in 2022", organized by the High-tech Agricultural Business Incubation Center.

Nearly 1,000 experiments to get a satisfactory product

Le Trung Hieu is an electrical and electronic engineer. He graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education. Before starting the Bambi Hana Project, he opened a company specializing in high-tech water treatment.

Around June 2021, after the first wave of the epidemic in Ho Chi Minh City ended, Mr. Hieu and his colleagues went to Da Lat for a trip . When visiting markets and flower gardens, he realized that a lot of fresh flowers were thrown away because they could not be sold, while the storage time was short. This prompted him and his colleagues to think about a solution to the problem of the flower industry after harvest.

Back home, he went online to find ways to keep flowers fresh longer and one of the suggestions was to put coins in the vase of water. Wondering why coins help flowers stay fresh longer, he researched and realized that when copper oxidizes, it can kill bacteria that cause flowers to wilt.

In early 2022, he and his colleagues began their research. As electrical and electronic engineers, no one was knowledgeable in the field of chemistry, so the group encountered countless failures. However, later, based on his own expertise, he decided to try to create copper ions using an electromagnetic field.

Specifically, the Bambi Hana research team passed water through a magnetic medium to break down water molecules, allowing water to easily circulate in the plant's veins, and then added sugar as nutrition along with copper ions. Thanks to that, the solution helps flowers stay fresh longer after harvest and limits water rot.

It sounds simple, but in reality, Le Trung Hieu had to do nearly 1,000 experiments with different solution mixing ratios before launching the official product.

However, with perseverance, after 6 months of experimentation, Bambi Hana created a copper ion solution that helps flowers stay fresh twice as long.

With water that changes the color of flowers, Bambi Hana members discovered that the biggest reason why flower dyeing fails is because the color does not dissolve in water, leading to blockage in the plant's blood vessels. Therefore, it is necessary to use magnetic water that can dissolve the color better, making it easier for the plant to absorb water, so the flowers color up quickly and stay fresh longer.

“According to experiments, Bambi Hana's solution only needs 1.5 hours to color, while other solutions take 2 hours,” said Le Trung Hieu.

According to the founder of Bambi Hana, thanks to its lower price than imported products and its ability to meet the tastes of domestic consumers , Bambi Hana quickly gained the support of customers. Bambi Hana's flower care and dye products are available at major flower markets in Ho Chi Minh City (Binh Dien, Thu Duc, Ho Thi Ky, Dam Sen), Quang Ba flower market in Hanoi and two major flower companies in Da Lat, Hasfarm and Langbiang Farm.

In the near future, Le Trung Hieu plans to register legal procedures to export to foreign markets. In addition, to diversify products, he and his colleagues will research and produce some additional substances related to preserving fresh flowers.
