Memorial ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs in Dong Nai

(DN) - On August 26, at the Southeast Martyrs' Temple (Tan An commune), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province jointly organized a Grand Ceremony to commemorate, pay tribute to, and pay homage to the heroic martyrs, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The leaders of Dong Nai province attending the program included comrades: Ton Ngoc Hanh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Huynh Thi Hang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, along with members of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Provincial Party Committee members, leaders of departments, branches and localities.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha attended the event with Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the Executive Council, along with leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Nai, Tay Ninh provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the memorial service, Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon emphasized: The ceremony is an opportunity to commemorate the great President Ho Chi Minh and his predecessors, heroic martyrs, those who devoted their lives to national independence, freedom and happiness of the people. Over the past 80 years, under the wise leadership of the Party and State, Vietnam has achieved many important achievements on the path of development and integration. In those achievements, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has always accompanied the nation, aiming for the goal of "Dharma - Nation - Socialism".

On this occasion, Most Venerable Elder Thich Thien Nhon also called on all monks, nuns, and Buddhists to continue promoting the tradition of patriotism, solidarity, and accompanying the government and people in the cause of building an increasingly prosperous country.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province Huynh Thi Hang sent her thanks to the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and all monks, nuns and Buddhists for coordinating the organization of the memorial service.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Huynh Thi Hang, the memorial ceremony is an opportunity to express deep gratitude for the noble sacrifices of the heroic martyrs, thereby fostering national pride and a sense of responsibility for building and protecting the Fatherland. This is a meaningful activity, demonstrating the sense of responsibility, noble gestures and compassion, the deep sharing of Buddhism for the development of the country, as well as the peace and happiness of the people, thereby continuing to promote the tradition of patriotism and the spirit of national solidarity.

During the program, delegates, monks, nuns and Buddhists commemorated and paid tribute to heroic martyrs according to Buddhist rituals.

Also at the ceremony, the organizers presented gifts of gratitude to 30 meritorious policy families and gave 1,000 gifts to people in difficult circumstances.
