On May 24, 25 and 26, the Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey solemnly held a memorial service and opened a condolence book for comrade Tran Duc Luong, former member of the Politburo and former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the Embassy headquarters in Ankara, Turkey.
In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, Ambassador Dang Thi Thu Ha and all staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Türkiye observed a moment of silence to commemorate and express their deepest condolences over the passing of comrade Tran Duc Luong.

In the condolence book, Ambassador Dang Thi Thu Ha emotionally expressed, “Comrade Tran Duc Luong was a staunch communist party member who made many great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people, a devoted, simple and close leader to the people, a shining example for future generations to follow” and pledged, “With gratitude to him, all members of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Turkey vow to do their best to contribute to the development of the country and the good friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Türkiye.”

Representatives of the Turkish Government, agencies, diplomatic corps, Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Istanbul and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Turkey sent condolences, visited and signed the condolence book for comrade Tran Duc Luong.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a message of condolences toPresident Luong Cuong, expressing, “I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Tran Duc Luong, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. I would like to share this pain and send my condolences to the family of Mr. Tran Duc Luong, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey, and all the friendly Vietnamese people.”
On behalf of the Turkish Parliament, Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş emphasized, “We are deeply saddened to receive the news of the passing of Mr. Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member and former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Turkish Parliament would like to express our condolences to the Government and People of Vietnam for this great loss.”
The Justice and Development Party of Türkiye (AKP) shared, "We would like to express our deepest condolences to the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people and the family of the former President, and hope to soon overcome this difficult time."
The condolence messages all affirmed that comrade Tran Duc Luong was a dedicated and far-sighted leader who led Vietnam during the decisive period of economic reform in the country's history, making many important contributions to the cause of innovation, stability, national development and national defense; at the same time contributing to expanding Vietnam's foreign policy, promoting Vietnam's relations with other countries; emphasizing that his career will be forever remembered.
