Sputnik news agency reported that according to a statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on September 24, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out more airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon last night, following airstrikes throughout the day on September 23 that killed 492 people and injured more than 1,600.

One of the attacks targeted a Hezbollah militia unit, with Israeli forces firing toward the Jezreel Valley in northern Israel. Additionally, IDF artillery struck other targets in the Ayta ash-Shab and Ramyeh areas of southern Lebanon.

According to Reuters news agency, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi announced on September 23 that the country had launched "a preemptive strike operation" called Northern Arrow, in which Israeli forces conducted airstrikes on Hezbollah military facilities.

Israel said the goal was to create safe conditions for its people to return to their homes in the country's northern border areas, after evacuations since October 8 last year to avoid shelling from Hezbollah.

"We are targeting the combat infrastructure that Hezbollah has built over the past 20 years. This is very important. We are hitting targets and preparing for the next stages," Halevi said.

However, he did not reveal details about Israel's upcoming plans.

In the face of these developments, the international community continues to issue warnings about the situation in the Middle East.

On September 24, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that during a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart in New York, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed support for Lebanon and condemned "indiscriminate attacks on civilians."

"We pay close attention to regional developments, especially the recent explosion of communications equipment in Lebanon, and firmly oppose indiscriminate attacks on civilians," Wang said.

According to AFP, on September 23, speaking while attending the United Nations General Assembly (UN) session in New York, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed that Tehran has made efforts to exercise restraint in the hope of ensuring regional peace .

“We know better than anyone that if a larger war breaks out in the Middle East, it will not benefit anyone in the world. It is Israel that is trying to create this larger conflict,” Mr. Pezeshkian stressed.

On the same day, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell warned that the escalating situation in Lebanon is "extremely dangerous" and close to "a full-scale war" as the intensity of attacks and the number of casualties are increasing.

Foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations also warned of the risk of widespread conflict in the Middle East after a meeting on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

"Current actions and reactions could amplify the dangerous spiral of violence, dragging the entire Middle East into a broader regional conflict with unpredictable consequences," the G7 statement after the meeting said.

G7 foreign ministers called for an immediate end to the ongoing cycle of violence in the region, affirming that no country benefits from the escalation of the current situation in the Middle East.
